Best still to go to http://aschmann.net/AmEng/#LargeMap1Right so that you can enlarge it more.

Interesting about the relative homogeneity of Canajun, eh?

Seriously, there are very distinct sub-regional dialects in the Maritimes and throughout Ontario that don't seem to be captured.
    Spring is back....

I've studied the link and STILL have NO IDEA...

As far as I know -- I have no regional dialect...

It's interesting how the most populated parts of Canada all have the same dialect, according to that map. My stepdad was from Hamilton, and in rural Saskatchewan, his speech patterns stuck out like a sore thumb!
It varies from province to province, and there's even different local dialects within provinces, especially between cities and rural areas.

Just "The West"...I think? They didn't really break down the western region all that much unless you're from the Bay Area.

I think they threw Canada in as an afterthought. Albertans and Newfoundlanders do NOT sound the same, not at all. I also understand that the Quebecois French has major variations as well, but not speaking French I can't tell. I would guess, further, that the Inuktitut spoken in Iqaluit is not the same as what is spoken south of Nome.

"the West" seems rather generic, too - do people in Barrow and San Diego sound the same? (Curious, what's the "Downtown New Orleans" all about - does "downtown" Manhattan and New Orleans have a similar patois?)

Not sure that the New York City accents are broken down all that well, either - Brooklyn and The Bronx are, in my experience, quite different, for example.

But, I enjoy looking at this map, as I am definitely one who enjoys maps AND demographics.

    LOL, nope!

To stick a craw in fellow Brits here, The "Boston" accent is not as distinct as Americans make it out to be as it is based on "RP" which came from Southern England.
