That's not my personal standard, it's merely rational.

Anything unhealthy indicates that the person has less than respect for himself. It's the same reason smoking is ugliness: deliberate self-harm is just ugly.

A shame? Why? I feel the same way. No way I'd ever father children. I'd be very afraid they would turn out like me, and I couldn't knowingly do that to another human being.

The comments of the Abercrombie CEO are deplorable. Crap like that is a big part of what's wrong with the modern world.

We are all too poor in Indiana to buy their clothing anyway. For real, I do not know of a mall with A&F in it.

Hell...I didn't even know it was a store until this thread...I thought it was some (annoying) underwear brand.

^So i'm having your gay card revoked. Sorry, not knowing that A&F is a store is just not acceptable to The Mafia.

I'm not quite sure why this is so surprising or controversial...

Why aren't people up in arms about other designers not making clothes in larger sizes?

I can't remember the last time I saw any high-end designers (not that I'm saying A&F is one) make huge sizes...

This kinda reminds me of arguments during that Victoria's Secret vs. Dove Real Women picture that was floating around the internet a while ago...

We're wandering off-topic here, but as long as we're digressing...

I'll never parent. Just don't have the inclination. But if I did, I'd adopt, too. Not because I think my genes are worthless, but because I just don't find them anything special. There's plenty of human beings floating around, and I don't think one with half my DNA is special enough to warrant its creation. Give me any extant child in need of a parent.

...BUT...I have never had a gaydar worth a shit....

...and it takes me 10 minutes or less to buy 500.00 worth of clothes.

However, I did used to buy clothes alot from International Male...does that count?

Ditto that. I have two genetic deficiencies that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Guys, remember, children don't need perfect parents, just loving ones. Adopt if you like, but don't deny yourself parenthood because you don't think you're good enough. It really is such a rewarding challenge.

From a purely business standpoint he might be a genius. He is trying to get the attention of his potential customer and make them feel they are part of an elite club. Alot of churches use the same strategy.

His potential customer is a prized commodity and there are alot of similar companies competing for their dollars as well so appealing to their inherent decadence and vanity might be a great marketing idea after all....time will tell. "Fat ugly people" complaining about it will only help.

So do Oakley, the sunglasses people.

If you carry Oakley products in your store, you sign an agreement which NEVER allows you to sell them below a certain price, even if you are willing to make a loss on the items. In that way, Oakley ensure that their goods are always viewed as high-value. The only time Oakley merch is on sale is when Oakley says "put your stuff on sale."

^ that's a big difference than telling the seller we only want attractive athletic people selling our product, and we're only going to make glasses that fit skinny faces. I don't think the problem is A&F wanting to seller their product to the "cool" kids, I think the problem is him saying outright I'm going to discriminate against XYZ. Why is it ok for him to say I'm not going to make or sell products to fat people, or allow anyone but the most attractive people to sell my product? It certainly wouldn't be ok for him to say I'm not going to sell products to black people, or allow black people to work in my stores. But that is exactly what he's doing here to fat people. In no way can I be considered fat, that's not why I'm bitching. It's simple discrimination.

^To be fair, the same could then be said of anyone who doesn't make clothes in a size bigger than an XL. Likewise stores which don't routinely carry any sizes bigger than an XL. So then where does it stop?

But in Oakley's case, I meant they want to known as an expensive product for the elite, and are marketed strictly as such.

^but I bet those manufacturers and retailers are doing it more because its not a money maker for them. I buy from a small gay owned online store that doesn't sell above XL but it's because they can't buy the larger shirts and make a profit off them. They also don't sell enough to make the use of space worth it to them. It's still a long way from coming out and saying I'm not going to sell to fat people because I don't want you wearing my clothes and you're not cool enough for me.
