    Chris Kluwe cut by Vikings

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/92...kings-released

    Why am I not surprised?

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

At first it is easy to be outraged and assume he was cut because of his gay right advocacy. But he was not really a great punter and the Vikings thought they were not getting their money's worth. Although it could be a combination of the two that ultimately doomed him.

But he is still a hot item in my book and I am sure he can continue to make a name for himself somewhere, if not in the NFL.

Kluwe is an amazing man and it is upsetting that he and another NFL player who supported gay rights are both jobless.

But honestly, when you make only 18 punts within the 20-yard-line, what do you expect?

Exactly. The way I read it (in regards to if Kluwe would be an ex-Viking today) if he wasn't such an advocate: probably. That the advocacy made it a certainty. (he made his job his 2nd focus, bad idea regardless.)

I'd rather have that Jason guy as a gay advocate/role model rather than Kluwe who was such a manic ranter.

TheSpectatingLoner summed it up, but on a side note... what's with the Robert Frost poem and what does a poem about a bitter old man looking for something to blame have to do with Chris Kluwe being a mediocre player?

Is that what this poem was about? I've read it twice. SparkNotes says the message of the poem is 'sieze the day'.

    The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    SparkNotes is wrong

if you read the poem, he talks about how both roads are pretty much equal... he speculates that someday he'll be telling a story about taking the road less traveled, but makes no mention of if that story will be one of pride or regret or simply blame. heck, even the title of the poem is about the road he didn't take. he reads to me like a bitter old man looking for a scapegoat for the course his life took.

it's like going to McDonalds instead of Burger King and then, 50 years later, blaming that choice for your lack of a Nobel Peace Prize.

Chris Kluwe and Brendon Ayanbadejo are brave men, yes they are older now but I am not surprised that the NFL cut both men.

    The Raiders think he's OK.

I'm not sure about Brendon, but it seems Kluwe simply wasn't good. I mean, when your sole job is to punt and you can't really do that... then advocate or not, you don't really have a leg to stand on.
