    Odd Recipes That Taste Amazing

A few weeks ago I went to my grandma's house to help her with yard work and such and for lunch she made me the most incredible sandwhich in the world. She mixed boiled eggs with mayo (egg salad I suppose) and then she took some fresh and crisp Fuji apples, peeled the skin off and sliced them thinly. She laid out the bread, put some of the egg salad on it then topped it off with the apples. I've never seen or heard of this before, she said her friend made it for her and now she eats it all the time. I tried it and I agree, it's fanfuckingtastic. I'm going to make one this afternoon, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Has anyone ever heard of this sandwhich? Please try it before you knock it, I know it sounds weird, but it's so perfect. You have to like eggs and apples though.

Does anyone else have a weird sounding recipe that is delicious? I'd love to read about it.

Never heard of those either, I can imagine it being tasty tho. *moans*

My mom used to make me sandwhiches with jelly and margarine because I'm allergic to peanut butter.

Try toasting an English muffin, spreading it with peanut butter when the muffin is still hot, and topping with chopped up tart apple.

    Incredibly good.

Namesake, I am gonna try your gramma's recipe, too.

What are you trying to kill me off?

You'll love it, I'm going to prepare mine in a minute. I've never been giddy with excitement over a sandwich before.

One of my old bosses used to eat egg salad with something mixed in with the egg, something to me that was very odd, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

I've never heard of eggs and apples together on a sandwich but based on your recommendation I will certainly give it try this week and report back.

One of the things here in South Saint Louis is fried bologna sandwiches. You simply put 2 or 3 slices of bologna in a frying pan and fry cook until browned or even slightly blackened. Eat on bread with ketchup. I don't usually get a very positive reaction to this but I love it.

Sounds deli but I don't have any Fuji on me so I may substitute with a different apple.

My aunt made a tuna fish pizza which was out of this world. I recoil at the thought of an anchovy pizza, but what she made was nothing short of amazing.

I love my egg salad sandwiches with chopped green Spanish salad olives in it. Egg and olive was a specialty of my mother's.

I also loved ground up bologna fixed with relish and mayonnaise. Again it's a sandwich my mom used to make.

I don't like apples in savory foods, I remember my aunt or someone we knew making potato or some other similar salad and putting apple in it, I would pick out all the bits of apple.

I guess my odd sandwich would be a toasted ham, ranch dressing, and parmesan cheese sandwich. A guy in my math class told me about it in 7th grade.

Ok now try this: fried sliced liverwurst and baloney on seeded rye bread no condiments. Go ahead give it a try. (from German section of New York City.)

Also, a pat of butter stirred into a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup.

And maybe new experience only to me, fill the bowl of 1/2 avacado with Worcester sauce.

You've absolutely gotta try my fried bacon, banana & cheese toastie ....

Fry some bacon in a little butter till crispy then set aside.
Peel a slightly over-ripe banana, slice down the middle, length-wise and fry gently for a few minutes in the same pan you used for the bacon, turning once.
Toast a slice of bread, spread with a little butter. then place the fried banana on top, arrange bacon on top of the banana then top with slices of your favourite cheddar cheese.
Place under griller for few minutes until cheese goes gooey & starts to melt.
Sprinkle with a little black pepper, eat and enjoy ... it's orgasmic!!!

PS ..... Not for the calorie or cholestoral conscious!

That's funny. My Mom gave us butter and sugar sandwiches (Wonderbread, of course) as a special treat.
