I bet this wasn't in the helicopter training manual

A highway accident in Norway. A doctor is flown to the scene.

But there's no place to land the chopper.

    Or is there?

Whoa! Now this is being a good pilot. I hope that guy gets a hefty bonus this year for his piloting skills.

If we are impressed with that imagine the emotions of those in the accident if they get to see it.

There are some things in life which are just unimaginable; that people will do the impossible to ensure that others get the help they need in time.

It's good to see a positive story from the little-known Norway to counter that incident two years ago.

Re: I bet this wasn't in the helicopter training manual

I think one of the first things a helicopter pilots learns is how to hover the aircraft. I had the opportunity to visit the Marine Corps. Helicopter training center years ago. It was fascinating, I had the chance to fly the simulator and sit co pilot while my bro in law did it. They were starting a new training class and there were about 30 helicopters and their new pilots hovering in the air field.

Re: I bet this wasn't in the helicopter training manual

    Superb.

It used to be that the greatest helicopter pilots in the world were Vietnam War vets who had to fly under the most bizarre conditions. Happily, someone recruited some of them to start a school, and the militaries of several countries decided to garner their expertise before they were gone. Now, it's more common than in the last few decades to see great flying by chopper pilots.

But even among all those, this is one of the best: touching a solid object briefly isn't that big a deal, and hovering isn't that big a deal, but to combine them and so provide a solid platform a passenger can use to disembark...

    WOW.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

    WOW.
Indeed. The chopper was definitely balanced on the guardrail. You could see it teetering ever-so-slightly.

    Fine touch with the controls.
