Obamacare Poll Finds 42% of Americans Unaware Its Law

Interesting article by ABC News -- 42% of Americans are unaware it's the law.

Sen Baucaus on the the original crafters of the ACA announced in the last couple of weeks that ObamaCare was going to be a "huge trainwreck" and promptly said he would not run for re-election in 2014.

I just see a huge train wreck coming down,
    Baucus, D-Mont., said
    .
At today's press conference Obama embraced the name ObamaCare and said that 85% of Americans are now enjoying the full benefits of ObamaCare -- nothing new for them -- unless they lose their insurance and have to go to the exchanges.

Are we headed for a complete failure and should the law be repelled? The US economy has been in limbo since 2009 -- a good portion due to the unknowns of ObamaCare.

One party was willing to sacrifice a lot of political clout to do what Americans wanted and deserve.

Another party waged a war of choice staining their hands with the blood of American soldiers.

What different worlds people live in.

Good grief you just won't admit you lost. No it's not going to be repealed. This dead horse has been beaten to a pulp. It will be implemented and we will be more secure and healthier for it.

Got some facts to back up your statement Springer? How much of the economy is in "limbo" because of the terrors of the Affordable Health Care for America Act? Or did the right wing extremists succeed in frightening you about it?

    http://www.healthcare.gov/law/timeline/full.html

Here you go Springer. It's the fear of the unknown. Educate yourself.

    Just a few highlights:

Prohibiting Insurance Companies from Rescinding Coverage
Prohibiting Denying Coverage of Children Based on Pre-Existing Conditions.
Eliminating Lifetime Limits on Insurance Coverage.
Regulating Annual Limits on Insurance Coverage.
    Providing Free Preventive Care.
    Preventing Disease and Illness.
    Expanding Coverage for Early Retirees.
    Extending Coverage for Young Adults
Allowing States to Cover More People on Medicaid
    Offering Prescription Drug Discounts.
    Reducing Paperwork and Administrative Costs
Prohibiting Discrimination Due to Pre-Existing Conditions or Gender.

    Pretty frightening stuff isn't it.....

Who's against it the most? Companies that profit from a persons misery.

Educate yourself. FYI....It's the law of the land and it won't be repealed.

    You're welcome.

Some people just can't admit they've lost. He will rag on about "ObamaCare" for the next 20 years even tho he will enjoy the benefits of it. Can't let that colored President get any credit for anything, only blame.

Obamacare will go into effect, and the nation will move on a bit happier and healthier.

Re: Obamacare Poll Finds 42% of Americans Unaware Its Law

You know if republicans have some changes to the ACA that they would like propose, let's hear them. If they have an entirely better proposal than the ACA, let's hear that too. I'd even support their "repeal and replace" call, if the repeal and replace is done in one action so that we know what we're getting. What I am dead set against is repeal, put everything back the way it was, and do nothing while we drag our feet for another 30 years. Which is what I think republicans really want.

If you have a better idea, let's hear it in its entirety, discuss it, debate it and possibly implement it. But this call for repeal with nothing ready to replace is a non-starter. Either come up with something or accept the fact that ACA is going to happen and deal with it.

Again 42% of Americans don't even know that ObamaCare is the law.

How successful does it make it when the benefits are already there for them and they don't even know about it.

I say they will know it when they pay their taxes for 2013 -- it will be a big kick in the butt.

This means 58% percent know it's the law. We all need to educate the ignorant.

My guess is that all watchers of FNC know that ObamaCare is the law -- many want to repel it.

So you're guessing. And just how many want to repeal it?

Got some links to back up your assumptions or are you just pulling that out of your ass?

He's beyond hope. We'll just have to put up with him. It's too bad that some people simply can't face reality that the Affordable Health Care Act is law.

ALL watchers of FNC? We need empirical data here.

How does one repel a law? The repulsive House has tried to repeal the ACA 33 times. How has that worked out?

As various parts of the law are being phased in those insured already are being notified. Via hard copy through their insurance carrier in the mail, and certainly through the insurance company's website.
For instance when the limits of coverage were lifted if a policy holder goes on line to check there medical insurance claims and benefits they will find there is no limit. So if the policy holder had a life time limit of say 500 K they will see that is gone. They will see that certain coverage they may not have had such as a physical exam is now available in there benefit.

My carrier is United Health Care and certainly not that consumer friendly however I have received 2 letters telling me about changing to my policy through the ACA in the past 2 yrs. I also received a refund of about $150 from United Healthcare because they were not complying with the law based on money taken in verse what they were returning in actual care. Hundreds of thousands of Americans received refunds last August into Sept.

I was able to get a flu shot for the first time in the 16 yrs I have had United Health Care at no cost in 2012 and 2013. Flu shots were never covered under my policy. However expensive visits to the Doctor to treat the flu or find out why I was sick was always covered. Made no sense. These new coverages were very clearly detailed in the letter I received when that portion of the ACA went into effect in 2012.

It is not surprising that Americans don't know about the law, and you certainly are ignorant on it. It is not surprising that many more Americans likely know who Snooki is compared to the ACA.

If a letter came in the mail and was discarded as junk or not read from a insureds carrier informing them of benefit changes to their employee or private health insurance policy whose fault is this? If a person has a policy but never creates a acct on the website like they do for banking information or other important financial accts whose fault is that?

The sections for the uninsured are not in place yet but the private sector for those with insurance are informing their customers. If you are a customer paying a firm big money for health insurance and they are not allowing you to see improvement or changes that are regulated by the government for your protection then you are foolish not to pursue reporting the abuse to the authorities.
