    Worst movies you've ever seen?

So basically, as the title suggests, what are the worst movies you have ever sat through (all the way through) either willingly or not (but which I don't mean some sort of hostage situation, more like "oh I have to see it because I'm being dragged to see it)? Oh and reasons are always good too. We can all say a film is bad but what makes it bad?

I decided to watch a film called Longhorns and basically there was nothing good about the film. The script was awful, the acting was all subpar and it all looked like it had been filmed in the corners of buildings because you always got the same tight angles and there were very few extras (which for a campus film it should have at least had the odd student wandering around). It just had an all round low budget feel to it which it didn't have to have, the storyline was there but it wasn't capitalized on very well.

^ the dance number was the only redeeming thing about the film.

I saw a horrible "horror" movie a month or so ago, called "When a Killer Calls". Pretty original, right? And the lead actress was so annoying and looked like Kesha I can't believe I made it through it. I mean, just look at the trailer..

Oh yeah that's Rebekah Kochan, pretty much only does awful films (she's the only one that's done ALL of the Eating Out films which are just dreadful). I thought that looked familiar but I've seen When A Stranger Calls which was done originally in 1979 and then remade in 2006 (which is the one I've seen). It's weird that both When A Stranger Calls and When A Killer Calls were both done in the same year and nobody thought to say "yeah, they're exactly the same film but one is low budget and the other isn't." If you liked the premise of the movie then check out When A Stranger Calls because it's just better, although if you didn't like the premise then steer clear of it.

On a side note that "The call is coming from inside the house" thing stopped me answering phones for many years. I couldn't risk being
the only one in the house and receiving that phone call.

She's horrible.. I cringed through the entire movie because she was so bad! Funny that you can make a career for yourself in the awful-movies category. Fortunately I haven't seen any of the Eating Out movies, but I did see "Not Another Gay Movie" and I figured if I've seen one bad sexually gay comedy movie, I've seen them all. Funny that you mentioned "When a Stranger Calls" 'cause I've actually seen that one and it was not half bad. I had no idea that they both came out at the same time. It's so weird when two movies that are the same come out at the same time. Goes to show how uncreative people can be.

Didn't the whole "the call is coming from inside the house thing" start with the first Scream? Or am I completely wrong here? I'd be shit scared if I lived in a house and I was alone and the phone rang, I can't even pick up the phone if there's no caller-id. But I've only lived in apartments so I'm not that scared by it.

Babel with Brad Pitt - made no sense - turned it off after an hour.
Five Easy Pieces with Jack Nicholson - made no sense - walked out the theatre.
O Lucky Man with Malcolm McDowell - boring - walked out.

And one film that consistently gets rated near the top that I absolutely hated - Goodfellas. They sold a lot drugs, stole a lot of money, killed a lot of people and said the F-word 5,000 times - that's the whole film - awful.

    1. Yor (1983) - even worse than a B movie: horrible acting; horrible dialog; horrible wigs. The only movie the New York Times movie critic ever walked out on.

    2. Mars Attacks (1996) - more awful than words can describe.

Some movies are more hateful because what I dislike about them is made worse by their popular success. In that category I put Braveheart, Avatar, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List.

Claire Denis has made a couple of my least favorites, Beau Travail and Trouble Every Day.

Eyes Wide Shut spoiled my impression of Kubrick.

Spike Lee's Get on the Bus is a terrible movie.

David Lynch's movies are universally bad after Blue Velvet (haven't seen The Straight Story.)

Even Terence Malick can make an awful movie: The New World.

    Hated Sideways.

And everything by M. N. Shymalan.

It basically IS the same, "When a Killer Calls" is just very low-budget. And bad.. So bad! It doesn't even make sense at times.

Re: Worst movies you've ever seen?

i thought ultraviolet is about as bad as sci-fi action movies get. the story is a patchwork of clichés, the plot makes no sense, the characters are flat, and the movie tries hard to be stylish, but has no sense of style. truly horrible.

catwoman is pretty bad, too. or pretty great, if you watch it as a comedy.

i remember seeing the neverending story III as a kid. i loved the book, and the first two movies. i dont remember much of the third, but i remember that even as an undemanding kid, i thought it made no sense and generally sucked ass.

avatar. i had low expectations, but the movie managed to limbo underneath nontheless. admittedly, i didnt see it in 3D, and it appears that made all the difference. everybody who saw it in 3D liked it; everybody who didnt doesnt.

alone in the dark. i thought it was going to be hilariously bad. instead, it was just unrelentingly boring.

matrix revolutions. matrix reloaded was pretty bad as well, but at least it had some nice special effects and one halfway interesting scene at the very end. revolutions, on the other hand, was just nonstop suck, wrapped in pretention and not-that-impressive cgi.

armageddon. ben affleck was pretty hot, tho.

transformers. its giant robots fighting each-other, how can you get that wrong? answer: by making it a racist, sexist teen-sex comedy with shia labeouf and megan fox.

she's all that. this high-school comedy serves its repulsive message wrapped in candy-coloured boredom.

i once ended up watching madagascar for some reason. being used to pixar and ghibli, it was an unwelcome reminder of how idiotic childrens movies can be.

I forgot Waterworld. Thanks for mentioning. The actors had to be boated to the island to take a shit.

Adam Sandler is almost as bad as Chevy Chase.

And that reminds me of Ishtar. Oh my lord.

There are so many bad barbarian movies, including a couple from the Conan series. I like Beastmaster, it's cute and fun. But Conan the Barbarian is most epic.

Les Miserables - The recent movie with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway. Maybe I am jaded because I have seen the broadway play multiple times. I had to turn it off after 20 minutes. Most of the cast was just horrible. I am not sure why Anne won all those awards for only 20 minutes of screen time.

Worst movie I've ever seen in a theater was "Oh God! Book II". Went with some people and fell asleep. If I had been alone I would have walked out.

Worst film I've ever seen not in a theater was OC and Stiggs. I wanted to contact the writers, producer and director telling them I want those 90 minutes of my life back.

It would be easier to list the good movies, but I'll give it a try. Here are my picks for crap movies...

Anything starring Brad Pitt, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Kate Hudson, George Clooney, Scarlet Johansson or Ben Affleck, for starters.

Anything directed, well that has any connection to Quentin Tarantino, Michael Bay, Dennis Dugan or David Lynch.
