    Issue regarding drink

I keep various journals of events that take place in my life, they range from friends I make, people I've worked for, detailed sexual encounters and recently on how much I drink. In a 31 day journal I've kept, I've found that I've drank 39 bottles/cans of something alcohol. In one night I drank 28 units [three bottles of Crabbies Green Ginger Wine, each worth 9.3 units]! I've drank 20 cans of Bass Ale which is somewhat proudly formed as a pyramid on my shelf.

I'll paste the log of this month in, all italics so feel free to skip the italics, also this doesn't represent any booze I've had outside of my flat. I haven't got a log including booze at pubs/clubs/others flats/house parties/gatherings:

    20 Bass Ale
    6 Crabbies Green Ginger Wine
    1 Crabbies Malt Ginger Wine
    3 Tuborg
    2 Hobgoblin
    1 Torpedo
    1 Old Thumper
    1 Newcastle Brown Ale
    1 Banks Caribbean Larger
    1 IPA Gold
    1 Innis Gull
    1 Barvaria
    Total units: 138.15

I do not think I have a drinking problem, however unlikely you might find that statement. I do not crave beer. I just like the effects on me and the taste.

The real issue is that I've developed a gut, I don't like it. I used to be thinner. This is the main reason I've made this thread, looking for help.

What is the best way to get rid of a gut? I'm able to workout.

I'm a university student in the United Kingdom. If you're unaware the United Kingdom is known by other Europeans as the drunks of Europe. Students generally love drinking.. so I'm really hitting the stereotype.

I intend on becoming teetotal until I'm happy with my body again, but I do not plan on being teetotal afterwards. Those that are, are generally on the fringes of the social groups I am part of.

the….best way for you to get rid of the gut is….cut back on drinking overall and stop binging! instead of the "drunk brit" stereotype, go for the "fit swede with abs" stereotype.

ps no high horse here…i've cut way back for the same reason, and added some regular weight workouts.
Americans need to keep their guns so they can protect themselves from gun violence just like Nancy Lanza did. And like Chris Kyle did. And like Gabby Giffords did. And like Tom Clements did. And like Michael Piemonte. And Joseph Wilcox.

Thank you and don't worry. Didn't think you were on a high horse. FYI, I'm not trying to be a stereotype. Who would? I'm me, I was just saying the stereotype bit, to show those who are from nations where young people drinking is more stigmatised [e.g. United States]. To show them that it is considered normal over here.

When you say weights, what kind do you mean? Small ones that you lift one handed, larger ones you'd find in a gym? Thankfully in my buildings complex there is a gym. I just neglect using it, I really should go more often.

Home gym probably what you'd have in your complex would be excellent. We've been at it for a few months now, and it is paying off. We still drink, we just take it easy rather than an everyday thing.

To lose weight, reduce calories in and increase calories out. Your university is bound to have a gym and sports facilities.

As far as drinks are concerned, I'd have to say your taste is pretty execrable, but that the quantity isn't too bad. I think medics recommend 28 units per week for a man. That equates to 124 units for a month. Your 138 isn't that much over, but it all depends on how much you're drinking when you're out and whether the drink was evenly spread or taken in a few heavy sessions. Try to give your liver a couple of days off each week.
