    I finalized my funeral plans.

A bit creepy, but I feel better.

    Has anyone else planned theirs?

No, but I don't think it creepy. It's just practical, like planning one's vacation or career.

It's just a way of making a deliberate choice about how one wants to be remembered in that last gathering of loved ones.

With my family, if I don't do it, I'll be left to the awful decisions of my siblings. Geesh, that's great incentive to outlive them.

I haven't planned a funeral but I have paid for cremation. I get creeped out thinking about being buried in the ground so I took care of it years ago...good thing too because the price has gone up alot.

I prepaid for cremation and to be placed in a mausoleum for both my mother and I. We didn't like the idea of being in the ground either so we chose a nice spot on the mausoleum overlooking the grounds.

Re: I finalized my funeral plans.

Dejavudoo: The reason I did it was I had the money to do it. My family is fairly poor so whenever a family member dies the family has to ask other family members if they can help pay for things. I didn’t want to do that to my family when I have the money now for both my mother and I.

Also as Eastofeden said this will save money in the long run because prices keep going up.

Yeah...I didn't really get along with my mom or dad and I didn't like her...but I loved her. She was creeped out by the thought of being buried and talked about it many times. Ironically...my dad and brothers who did get along with her out voted me and ignored her wishes and buried her because they couldn't stand the thought of her burning. OK...

My dad and one of my brothers died after that and he was buried in New York while my bother was buried a few rows away from her. I apologize to her everytime I fix the flowers on her grave...and it is the reason I paid for my own and gave my power of attorney to my lover so he gets to make all of the decisions.

    I plan on not going.

And if I do, my partner can just burn me out back and use the ash on the garden.

My great grandmother bought her own coffin and had it placed in the attic of their house. It was peace of mind that such expensive things were already obtained and would not have to trouble the children to get.

I've always wanted to do it myself... I'd love to just not leave that financial burden to my next of kin.

I have left explicit instructions that I am to be placed on a Boston Whaler.... dosed in alcohol and my mourners are to drink good whiskey and take turns trying to hit the boat with a flaming arrow... whoever sets me off gets the vast and expansive estate...

I plan on being cremated. Preferably, I'd like my ashes scattered over the desert. Given the fact that I'm the youngest of my family, and have no children, spouse, nieces or nephews, I expect the disposal will be perfunctory. Then again, I'll be dead, so I'll be well past caring.

no but when i get the money to, soon enough. it's always good to prepare for the inevitable. with that said, i'm ready to die. cremated, no funeral, just a gathering where people say their true thoughts and feelings about me or do whatever, then scatter my ashes in the upstate new york woods somewhere off of interstate 87 in the catskills or adrondicks. it is what it is and i really don't give a shit @ this point.

How do you feel about dying, leaving all this behind, and ceasing to exist?
