Former NRA Lobbyist: Time to hunt democrats

    .
    http://current.com/community/9408956...-democrats.htm

Is this part of the Republicons' attempt at "turning over a new leaf"? Could have fooled me!

The analogy between elections and hunting is a favorite among conservatives; former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was widely condemned for her website’s map placing crosshairs over vulnerable Democratic districts in 2010.

Uh but only with, uh votes, right? Why would anyone think this could mean actual violence. Oh yeah Gabby Giffords. Whoops.
I know, I know. He was only kidding. Maybe he should say that his word choice could have been better.

The Palin link to the Giffords shooting is a stretch seeing as Loughner was a liberal turned independant conspiracy theorist. But hey anything to prove your point, right thinkprogress? Anyways, I don't think he was kidding, but I also don't believe that he was advocating shooting Democrats. And I don't think he should apologize for what he said.

First of all, welcome to JUB! Hope you enjoy the ride.

I wasn't trying to make a point other than the remark was inappropriate. I'm sure the survivors of the New Town massacre would be not be very amused. If he's affiliated with the NRA, he's probably not capable of apologizing anyway.

Refering to shooting anyone you don't agree with is out of line...period. It is a stretch trying to defend them for any reason...period.

As for the apology....who cares. I think it would be insincere if an apology was made. He showed you who he was...believe him.

Loughner was not a "liberal," someone else said that and considering his actual political positions - she knew fuck all about "liberal."

One might conclude that some people are saying such things for political expedience - their own.

What he had was Paranoid Schizophrenia - which often manifests in late teens early 20's and has no political dimension whatsoever.

Trivializing that kind of barbarity is pretty much the first step in justifying it - just a joke, sure, but humor is funny because it has truth in it.

    "Hunting" does not mean "shooting".

At least I never saw a toddler use a Smith and Wesson when going for Easter eggs....

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

A logical progression of hunting is shooting.

That's because you didn't attend the Muslim, socialist, communist, Kenyan Easter egg roll at the White House.

...and Democrats are not "hidden" as Easter Eggs are. They are easy to find because you don't have to "hunt" for them. It is about context and the NRA Lobbyist was not talking about Easter Eggs.

Oh c'mon Kuli..... a former NRA lobbyist talks about hunting Democrats in the same sentence there's a time to hunt deer, and you're talking kids hunting Easter eggs? *sheesh*

“I liken it to the proverbial hunting season,” Brown says. “We tell gun owners, there’s a time to hunt deer. And the next election is the time to hunt Democrats.”

You know damn well what he was referring to.

Gun nuts sure like to stick together.

The only disagreement I have with his idea is that he excludes Republicans. The hunt should be on to get rid of all the establishment parties' minions.
