The 'Autopsy' Report - Is the Republican Party Officially Dead???

The now infamous 'Autopsy' Report that the RNC commissioned after the election is so bizarre.
To listen to right wing pundits and the head of the RNC, Rancid Prepuce, actually refer to the study as an 'Autopsy' has been bizarre to say the least.

The use of Autopsy to describe the process has caught the attention of many people who realize that God' Own Party has been dying for the last decade and apparently has now had the plug pulled on Life Support.

It is like they somehow know that their aged and creaking demographic can only really identify with an analogy to death. What they don't understand though, is that all the stories about coming back to life aren't real. Or at least, we hope they aren't....

They aren't dead and I won't be shocked if control of the Senate is retured to Republicans next year. The gun control debate is just as dangerous of an issue for Dems in red states as gay marriage is for Republicans.

    ^ Not really.

In the US, everyone loves guns....even if they don't love guns, they love guns. Especially at election time.

This article should be mentioned when people keep mentioning the fact the GOP is in the governer's mansions of 30 states.

All politics is local and the local party work doesnt get as opposed as the national party work. So the lies and deception work...

Plus the states aren't offered the security of making their own money so they have to cut cost and balance budgets every year.

That makes the republican talking points ring exactly true. and is their only remaining base of power.

States have cut drastically. Consider that while state managed assistance programs have dwindled, things like CHIPs (food stamps) have sky rocketed. One is a state program whit matching funds and the other is fully federal. It is simply shifting the burden.

Yeah, unfortunately --tragically, I think you are right. The left's exuberance is so over blown--it's still a 50-50 country that leans right--but when things get horrible they lean left.

    Also, A CAUTIONARY NOTE:
When Barry Goldwater was annihilated in 1964, many thought the Republican Party was dead. In 1968, along came Tricky Dick. Machiavellian thought... never underestimate your opponent(s).

No. They aren't getting control of the Senate. The dems may lose a seat or two, but it's not going to be enough to flip control over. Yea, they are pretty much near death... their party needs to reinvent itself if it were to survive...

They've lost complete voting blocs... entire generations have flipped towards democrats. Entire demographics too.

Oh but I disagree. I think it's becoming more 55-45... this is happening because of upcoming demographic shifts. And there is really no left in this country. Republicans are facing a catastrophic future... they can either continue appealing to their base who win local elections and continue to lose minorities and women voters, or reinvent themselves and risk alienating their traditional base. They are stuck in a catch 22 situation.

Well, the funny thing is that they won't, not really. Sure, some extremists might drop the party forever, but most will soon realize they have no other viable party to vote for. Misleading terms like "council", "league", "institute" or "one million" might give them the wrong impression, but in reality, the RR is a small and shrinking minority. They're fewer than blacks, fewer than Hispanics, obv. fewer than women... Of go as far as to suggest that at this point they might be fewer than LGBTs nationwide. THEY need the GOP more than it needs them.

I think what you will see as Jayhawk pointed out, nationally, the GOP will continue to struggle whereas the Democrats will do well. The state level is a bit different. I feel when Obamacare comes to roost next year, you will see a lot more "red", especially at the state level.

Obamacare is going to cause a lot more "red"? I just don't see that happening.

Does "the art of war" apply to the internal politics of a country?

The GOP will not be dead at the local and state level in 2014. However, the governors in MI,PA,ME and a couple of other states are NOT popular at all and even though it will be a midterm election,I will not be shocked to see Democrats take those states back.
The senate is another matter but it all comes down to whom the GOP nominates.
