The GOP does not have the will to make necessary changes that will deliver the popular vote. The policy makers are too vituperative and out of sync with reality.
OMFG! LOL!
And who will lead the party in all these changes? Reince Priebus, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Rand Paul, Michele Bachmann, Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum, Wayne Lapierre, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Rick Perry, Dopnald Trump, Jim Inhofe.
The same bunch of clowns that made their party a mess to begin with. A new coat of paint won't help them. They've got to clean house of all these radicals.
Nice words lmao... it's too bad their political base (and where all the $$$$$ is) has them by their balls. Sweeping reforms lmao? Not buying it.
Sooooo, Rancid Pubis declares war on the Teabag? Ought to be amusing anyway.
ATTACK OF THE LIBERAL ELITE
The RNC would have to make some extremely drastic policy changes and that's not going to happen with Priebus in charge. Priebus is a far right conservative and has already stated that he won't agree to policy changes, only logistical changes. In other words, he's pushing the GOP to seek out converts, not compromise. Spending $10 million (his figure) on logistical changes (including opening an office in San Francisco) is not going to advance the party when it was already proven that the hundreds of millions they spent on putting Romney in the oval office was an epic fail. Republicans still don't get it.
They spent money on opening an office in San Francisco? Are they delusional? Priebus sounds like a delusional nutcase.
I used to be like that, but not anymore. At least not on the first date. Third date, whole other story..."
LOL... I doubt it. Priebus... again. Look at whom opened the office. The republican party in San Fran is a non-factor... much like the non-factor Kevin James in LA.
The republican party in California should be more worried about holding counties they are on the verge of losing. California is supermajority democrat and will be for a LONG TIME.
This state was screwed by republicans and most people will NOT forget that for a LONG TIME.
And gay people in SF are like 90% democrat. So not gonna happen lol.

A new Republican Office in San Francisco is part of their plan? LMAO
They aren't even on the radar there. The mayoral run off race some years back was between Gavin Newsome and Mark Gonzalez (Dem and Green)...the Repuks weren't even in the mix.
.
It's pretty much the case in all big California cities. Republicans have lost San Diego completely too.
Here in LA we had a primary with 15% turn-out. We would all think that such a low turn-out would be great for republicans. It wasn't. The two candidates facing off are both democrats. LOL.
A republican office in San Fran was a waste of money and will probably get eggs thrown at it lol.
Here's the problem for the GOP. The same language and politics that work great at getting them elected at the local and state level will become bigger and bigger failures on the national level as time goes on.
As long as people like Tony Perkins and others are allowed to decided who the best candidate is,they will go no where fast.
Opening an office in San Francisco has nothing to do with San Francisco. It's about going to suburban Cleveland (or wherever) and saying "an office in San Francisco! Look how moderate we've become!"
"If you don't have anything nice to say... come sit next to me."

Reince Priebus is a failure.
The fact that he got to stay on as RNC chair, after 2011 (N.Y. #26) and 2012 (loss of two Senate seats; more than five in the House), while they got rid of Michael Steele (after 2009 pickups for New Jersey and Virginia governorships; 2010 flip of the House and six Senate seats pickups), says a lot about the intelligence of this party.
Here's the thing..there will be GOP picks up next year because that's usually what happens when people are upset with the party of the president in charge.
But if they think in 2016 they can trot out the same racist, homophobic etc people for election, they will just keep on losing.
This.
Along with the religious nuts and Karl Rove, these clowns will effectively destroy the Republican party by 2016. Unable to shake the mantra that they just aren't conservative enough.....unable to move past their history of homophobia and misogyny, they will hector and lecture the voters until their ears bleed.
The only way that Republicans can continue to win is to gerrymander, steal elections and hope and pray for war.
Spring is back....
Mr. Steele made his mark as Maryland's Lt. Governor; while he tried, he could not energize voters to reelect former Gov. Erlich. It's not that he didn't try. Funny how he had a much higher likability factor than his boss.
The camera likes Mr. Steele. He is an articulate, attractive man who delivered results. However, Mr. Steele did not serve what many in the RNC saw as his role--to be a full puppet of the RNC. Instead, what the RNC saw was an uppity black man who dared to not walk lockstep with them. How dare he! So, he's ousted.
So they get Mr. Reince Priebus. He is an articulate man who did not deliver results. However, he is indeed what the RNC wanted--a full puppet. Oh yeah, let's keep the white guy who failed while we oust the successful black man. Anybody is better than that, right?
Now Mr. Priebus has to "sell" the new 100-page republican manifesto. RNC PR BS. That's what their new manifesto is; that's also what happens when you remove all vowels from his name. Coincidence?
Also, my gaydar pings when I see/hear him. Maybe that's why he seems so angry...
Can't wait for him to come out...
The GOP is the "I can't believe it's not the Dems" now. What are they going to do differently?
Only government can take perfectly good paper, cover it with perfectly good ink and make the combination worthless.
Ehrlich won the first time because the Democrats could not have nominated a more clueless candidate.
He then lost due to Maryland's overwhelming Democratic majority, not because of campaign mismanagement, although a staffer did make calls to African American voters telling them that O'Malley had already won. The perpetrator was later convicted.
Yes, I remember. Mr. Ehrlich (sorry for my misspelling!) defeated Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the sitting LT Gov. Ms. Townsend, IMO, was not a clueless candidate per se, but just lackluster. There was no chemistry, charisma. She did strike me as being very smart.
Gov. Ehrlich is a good looking man, with a terrific looking wife/family. By the time he was running for re-election, he had become well known, and his popuarity was declining. By then Maryland residents had gotten to know him, and that wasn't necessarily a good thing for his political career.
Campaign mismanagement means many different things to me. It's not always the staff but the candidate himself. You know, like Mitt Romney?
But let's get back to the topic of the GOP turning over a new leaf. I think they'll find much of the same crap on the other side of their new leaf...

It's more like turning over the same leaf. The other side looks different but it's still the same fucking leaf!
Without a radical change the GOP will absolve themselves. Course the flip side is, Democrats love to get complacent when they are ahead.
It's hilarious that they seem to hope that SCOTUS will take the issue out of their hands. At this point, the GOP is so constrained by the bigotry of the extremists they depend on, that they must be hoping for gay marriage to become legalized, so that they don't have a choice anymore. Lame losers.

I just don't understand how the Repubs can repackage the same sh*t into another vessel and expect a different outcome. Isn't that kinda like insanity?
What I got out of all I've read about their CPAC is that the repubs are in more of a disarray than ever. Like you, I hope the Dems don't get complacent.
That is the opinion of Michelangelo Signorile and Jedidiah Purdy.
If the GOP leadership secretly solicit Roberts and Kennedy, we will get nationwide marriage equality in three months.
The GOP's only hope, it seems, is for the Supreme Court to take the issue off the table entirely. It's ironic (and grotesque) that the party that has been the most vociferously anti-gay, the party that brutally attacked LGBT people for decades and exploited homophobia for political gain, may be praying that the justices next week begin the process of giving gays full equality.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michel...b_2906344.htmlOpposing marriage equality is increasingly an albatross for the national Republican Party. Considering its base, it will need a while to lose the big bird on its own. A decision for marriage equality would nullify the national issue.

Yay, great minds ^_^

More writers/bloggers are saying this...
Republicans, this is your one way ticket out of a bloody mess for everyone. I suggest you take it.An expansive court ruling would settle the gay-marriage issue for good, eliminating the need for 20 years of state legislative fights that will be painful for gays and hugely politically damaging to the Republican Party.

Don't think for a moment that's what many are hoping. Locally and in some states it will work..but on a national level, runing on a anti-gay platform will no longer work.
It's kinda like spraying cheap ass air freshener on a pile of elephant droppings. And no, I'm not talking about Febreze... I'm talking about that flowery dollar store crap. People might think it doesn't smell bad at first, but once the novelty wears off they'll see it for what it is. A pile of unappealing shit.
They tried to repackage it in 2012... failed catastrophically. I don't see how they'll be successful again.
As one wise man once said "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig".

I think that it was Todd Palin who said that?
Or was it a pit bull?
Spring is back....
The GOP will never have the guts to stand up and reject, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, the NRA, Grover Norquist, the Religious Right and the Tea Baggers. You claim you want to reach out voters. Yet in 2012 states controlled by the GOP sought restrict if not prevent voters from voting. Where was the out cry from Rice Pudding at that time?
2014 will prop(sadly) result in Senate control being returned to Republicians, therefore they will see no need to change their policies.
It's going to take them losing another presidental election before they really stand up to the Religious Right.
The Senate isn't going back to republicans. The House is something that will probably remain in their hands if by an even narrower margin.
^ The House has gerrymandered itself into permanent stasis.
What a sad abuse of the ideals of the Republic.
Spring is back....
I don't think that there will be much change in the House come the Mid-terms.
Spring is back....
There won't be. The Senate will be intresting to watch though.
.
Is one of the components of the GOP "turning over a new leaf" Reince Priebus and Michael Steele bitch-slapping each other all week?![]()

^ I'm actually glad to see Steele prodding away at the whey faced Rancid Prepuce these days.
Spring is back....
Steele was successful and got the boot. Priebus lost miserably and kept his job. Suffice to say they aren't friends.
That's what I said about 2012. Absolutely no way the Republicans could not take back the Senate.
And yet, somehow, this dysfunctional party managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory. They even lost margin in the House, and lost the presidential race to boot.
I don't think so. Richard Nixon inextricably incorporated racism into the Republican Party with his "southern strategy," and Ronald Reagan inextricably wedded the party to Christian fundamentalism.
I don't believe it is possible to separate either of these things from Republicanism. These two features have become the definition of Republicanism. The Republican Party is most emphatically not an American conservative party. It is a religious party of extreme Christian fundamentalism (analogous to an American Taliban). It is incapable of governance, because religious fundamentalists cannot compromise. They speak for God. And you cannot negotiate with God, even when He's wrong (which is surprisingly often).

Gay marriage used to be punk rock. Now it's selling Subarus and shit.
It might not be possible but the demographics are changing in this country. If they want to continue to cater to old white men..they will be in deep toruble.
