Ten years after Iraq invasion, US troops ask: 'Was it worth it?'

    ;
    http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2...-worth-it?lite

Over 5,000 of our kids died for nothing. There are countless thousands who are damaged physically and mentally.

If anyone can stand a far-leftist dyke from the "liberal media" (Rachel Maddow) you may want to watch her MSNC special called Hubris, based on a book by the same name.

IMHO, there is no place in Hell hot enough for the perpetrators of this war.

    Mission Accomplished? What a crock.

Sadly--agree 100%--especially the, "no place in hell part" . It's all so disgusting to me I become speechless.

    not at all.

I'm pretty glad the Iraqi government finally kicked us out, or else we'd still have thousands of troops there... quietly hoping that the Afghan government does the same.

Nothing to do with Iraqi gov kicking us out---(although if McCain was elected we'd still be there) it's about we never should have gone in ----it was a waste of billions of dollars and thousands dead or messed up physically and mentally not to mention dead--if it was to get cheap oil---we didn't get any---if it was about democracy, that's funny as the current gov is closer to Iran than us. Bush was mentally ill, a borderline personality.

It was a total utter disaster that wasted thousands of American lives, but also killed tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians. Bush is a war criminal and he got away with it. The entire basis of the war based on a lie. We should have never entered Iraq, and should have focused more efforts on Afghanistan. Losing sight of Afghanistan was perhaps very costly.

It's not just the MSNBC special which I did not see--an independent commission has recently released a report which concluded it was a monumental waste of money ---one of the worst in history.

No it wasn't worth it. Thousands of Americans were killed or maimed. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis suffered the same fate. What was the monetary damage? Possibly a couple trillion dollars.

Thanks George W Bush and Dick Cheney.

I am waiting for one of the UnderBridge to come and turn this into an Obama-bashing thread. Because it is so much more relevant that more troops went there under his watch than who fucking started it.

    No worries. It will happen.

Dubya wanted to invade Iraq before 9/11. Saddam Hussein embarrassed his Daddy because of the first gulf war (What's with these Bushes and war) so he wanted revenge. 9/11 was a golden opportunity for him to attack and take out the man who humiliated the family. George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld are four unconvicted war criminals.

The Iraq war is one of the saddest events in recent American history.

An unprovoked war perpetrated on the basis of lies. it cost 5,000 American and 100,000 innocent Iraqi lives.

If it had been launched by anyone other than an American president, that person would be in prison right now, serving time for crimes against humanity.

Snake oil salesmen of the Bush Cheney and company. Sold the public lies on WMD in Iraq and to tie 9-11 to Iraq. To speak ill of the war you were UNAMERICAN. To Bush there was no MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

I think what would be fair is for everyone who lost a loved one at that mess, sues Bush and Cheney. Get all of their money.

The only mission that was ever accomplished is that the PNAC did what it set out to do.

I think the entire Bush administration should be charged with treasonous acts against American citizens.

Lay off Maddow. She is one of the few people who make sense. Can you match her credentials as a Rhodes Scholar? I wish she would run for President!

quite apart from any acts of physical violence and the questionable reasons for initiating these events , it does not seem usual to evaluate the severe expense or strain on the world economies of the wars in Afghanistan Iraq and US internal Dept of Homeland Security . 2-5 trillion for the invasion of Iraq , half trillion internal US on top of other expenses like schools . Huge expenses without any consequently increased security .
