Big Ed is offcially back today @5pm EST..The fact that they're doing a 1hr spot first is a bit interesting....If Ed can handle a 3hr radio show he should be able to pull off 2hrs with Live people...

    MM,

I read something about 10 days ago that says that MSNBC is struggling ratings wise - very bad - since Hayes took over in prime

have not seen anything else - what have you heard ?

i liked him a lot better on the weekend personally

i just don't see him as worthy or able at this point of his career and learning on the job in primetime is sorta weird

I thought I was the only one who finds Chris Hayes to be insufferably boring. Ed was much more "in the element" for that time period.

Now I find Ed to be less of a fit in the weekend time slot...and Chris to be less of a fit in his time slot than his former Saturday morning slot.

MSNBC should have left well enough alone.

    ^^

I tuned in on Saturday, a little after 5p. Guess I had the time wrong. I won't be setting my DVR.

PS to ChrisRobin: I hope I get lucky this Saturday, thanks for being concerned about my sex life.

Yeah Chance I read an article that stated Chris is tanking during the 8pm hour.Rachel's viewers are not returning to watch her @ 9pm & her Producers will either Blame it on Sexy Chris or admit she's got her own issues...

I agree with Frank...MSNBC should have left Ed & Chris alone...Ed had 1-million plus tuning in @ 8pm and they THOUGHT a Young Chris Hayes could attract more...Had they called me I would have advised them that Ed & Chris have 2 different show formats. Ed's show is NOT for Nerds and he takes his show to the People across the Country...Chris's show was stronger as a Panel driven format that he Moderated with perfection. So if you like his style you'd tune in...

Another MAJOR factor is Ed came from Radio and STILL has his Radio show..I don't know if that will help him on the weekends since he does radio Mon thru Fri..

I hope Chris gains more steam over the Summer months but if he stays UNDER 1-Million viewers possibly pulling Rachel under with him MSNBC will snatch him out of the 8pm slot...We've seen them Pull different Anchors out of the 8 & 9pm slot over the years and they're struggling...

Chris Hayes was NOT suited for prime time..they should have left well enough alone.
Another big problem though..if you're a liberal viewer, you have a lot of places to choose from,CNN,MSNBC or Comedy Central etc.
Fox News is the only cable channel around for conservatives

Used to have a DVR but never used it so returned it to the cable company. The nephew has everything else under the sun ..... he's got more toys than me.....but all he cares about is Xbox360, 24/7.

I'll write myself a note for the next Ed.

I'm Glad Im not a Gamer arent you? My Queen Mother bought me an Atari in the 80's...All we could afford was one Cartridge..So I played Pac-Man on my 13-inch Black & White TV like a Mad Man...I swear Pac-Man had a yellow Dick...

Then in the 90's my Little brother had to have the latest Gaming CRAP Nintendo...We played that like crazy but I just played less & less...Mario & Luigi werent even Hot to watch...

My Kid brother is now 28 and a HUGE gamer...I could care less...But there are Grown Men of all Ages playing it daily and they'll Kill someone over their Gaming system...LOL...

Back in the early 80's I bought an Atari 2600. The cartridges were expensive.. I think they were about $30 or so back then. I had pacman, pitfall and a lot of others. Used to play it quite a bit for several years but eventually put it away, then it was farmed out to the relation's kids. Never saw it again after that.

While checking out ebay I saw there is something called Atari Flashback game console, and they're up to Flashback 4 now. The console looks like a scaled-down version of the 2600 with identical joysticks. I bought a new Flashback 3 a few months ago. They have 60+ built in games available for the console....games from the 80's .....so you don't have to use cartridges anymore. Unfortunately Pacman isn't one of them. The games are so laughingly primitive now, but I remember playing them decades ago.

Other than that I'm not a gamer. The nephew plays a lot of games on his Xbox360 and wants those Call of Duty and the other ultra-violent ones whatever they're called. He's on Xbox live quite a bit stealing all my bandwidth. He has Wii, Playstation II and II, PSP and how many others I don't remember. He has a couple of iPods along with a couple iMacs, an iPad & a couple iBooks. I think there's a Playstation I in the basement somewhere too. I feel like dragging that out just for fun. Tetris is about all I go for with that.

So much stuff to waste your money on!

I'm a nintendo gamer. The bf and I love anything Mario in it and have spent many winter days playing Mario Kart or Mario Party.

Lawrence O'Donnell teased Karen the other night and advised her to ask the audience to name her NEW show that premieres today @ 4pm est...Ed follows Karen and is STILL on FIRE @ 5pm...

The title suggestions I sent both of them were:

The Weekend round up with Karen Finney
No Holds Barred with Karen Finney
Telling it like it is with Karen Finney

They didnt like my choices..LOL....So they named the show "Disrupt with Karen Finney"...
Don't you guys think MY choice of "No Holds Barred with Karen Finney" sounds Fucking BETTER? Disrupt...Hmmm..alright...

Honestly it kinda makes me sad that more people in this country want to watch an agenda driven show like Ed's vs more of a fact driven show like Chris'. IMO news should be boring and fact driven as it makes for a more informed audience that will better understand the issues and the choices they ultimately make on them.

Ed's show IS an issue-driven show. It's just that he's louder and more in-your-face than Chris. (That approach fires some people up, and turns other people off. Both types of shows have a purpose.)

I have a preference (though not a strong preference) for the bombast over the dry commentary, though I'll sometimes watch Washington Journal on C-Span which I actually believe to be the best public affairs show in existence, and their approach is the driest-of-the-dry.
