WOOHOO!!! RARE visit with Frankfrank!!!

Today, opinterph and I had the rare and AWESOME treat of spending the day with Frankfrank as he travelled through Atlanta on his way to Florida!!!

It was a BRUTALLY cold day -- and officially snowing -- so our tour of Atlanta wasn't as thorough as it COULD have been -- but we still had such a GREAT time!!!

Sorry that I FORGOT to take more pictures -- but here are a couple I took of both opinterph and Frankfrank at the "World Athletes Monument" that was given to the city of Atlanta by Prince Charles back when the Olympic games were held here...

From the MOMENT he stepped through our front door this morning until he left, we had such an INCREDIBLE time...

Frankfrank is SO witty, knowledgeable, adventuresome and such a FUN conversationalist that if ANY of you EVER have the OPPORTUNITY to host him as he travels around the country -- DEFINITELY DO IT!!!

Brutally cold? Hah!! You southerners don't even know what bruta...oh, wait, Swerve knows WELL what brutal cold weather is, he keeps driving through it with a Big Rig, haha.

I had a great day too, guys, and thank you for hosting and showing me around. Little Five Points definitely looked like a fun neighborhood to hang out in, kind of reminds me of the Mississippi area in Portland I guess.

Swerve's "haystack" chili (seven-way chili or something???) was wicked good, even if he thought I wasn't adding enough cheese to it, haha.

I had a chance to meet up with Frankfrank, but my OH wouldn't allow it. Nothing about jealousy, or anything like that. He had concerns over meeting people you know over the Internet.

Frankfrank and I couldn't work our schedules out, anyway.

I'm glad you all had fun. I wish I could have been there. I'd always wanted to meet all three of you.

I looks very classical and not as jarring as most crazy current Post-Modern stuff, ie the Olympics tower in London.

I will enthusiastically second Swerve's comments.

When Frank came through Rochester, he and I had a spectacular dinner at one of Rochester's finest Italian restaurants, and we dished and discussed JUB over coffee afterward!

It was a fun evening, and Frank's a delightful guy!

That "World Athletes Monument" looks interesting. It looks very classical and not as jarring as most crazy current Post-Modern stuff, ie the Olympics tower in London.

Prince Charles is well known for preferring traditional design and architecture to modern. He famously described a proposed extension to the National Gallery in London as a "monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much-loved and elegant friend". His influence was enough to ensure the extension was never built.

It therefore comes as no surprise that the World Athletes Monument is classical. I doubt Prince Charles would have associated himself with something modern such as the tower built for last year's Olympic Games in London.

I live in Atlanta, and "brutally cold" means it is goes into the low 40's and you have to wear a jacket. In fact, I think that must have been the day I wandered through our beautiful Botanic Gardens and then spent several hours at the exhibit of orchids. Now last night was a bit chilly--mid-20's. I lived in Rochester NY for a time, so that is how I measure what it means to be cold!
