It's this kind of argument: "Well republicans may be against gay rights as a whole... but it doesn't matter because a few on the left are against gay people." Who cares?

It's always about the BIGGER PICTURE. The BIGGER PICTURE is why gay marriage was legalized in Maryland for example. In fact, Maryland is a key example... gay marriage would have never been legalized without the shift towards support among African Americans.

Those guys are declining in influence big time... they lost all sorts of districts in the last election (Mary Bono Mack for one). The republican party in California is almost in the dustbin (and party affiliation wise they are down below 30% of the population). They are such a non-factor it's kinda funny.

Pete Wilson and his stance on immigration. George W. Bush was the last Republican presidential candidate who carried California. And, in 1988, he underperformed in Calif. relative to his national margin. He won nationally, over Michael Dukakis, by R+7.73 and carried Calif. by R+3.57. He also had underperformances in Illinois and Pennsylvania. These three states easily flipped to Bill Clinton, who unseated Bush, in 1992. And they haven't voted for a Republican since the 41st president's victory in 1988. (This is also true with the Calif.'s two U.S. senate seats.) With Republicans in Calif., they're essentially dead because the most they tend to ever win are an election to the governorship.

Well Orange County is one of the last strongholds... but the truth is Orange County isn't as strongly republican as it once was. 45% in the county voted for Obama in the last election. And in the once republican leaning county, San Diego has now switched democrat. Obama was the first democrat to win San Diego county since WWII, and did it in 2008 and 2012.

I'm not going to sugarcoat the party to try to make them look better. They make themselves look bad, hence why they got whipped on election day.

I never really see you get in the bigger debates on this board about the issues. I notice your posts pop up when there is an opening to bash the republicans. What is this conservative vs liberal thing? The world doesn't work that way. At least countries outside of America. Politicalcompass.org does a decent job defining political spectrum but even that is not perfect. The world isn't black and white as said... it's far more complex. I am not a "liberal". I am a social democrat and a green. I view the democratic party here in America as still too much in the pockets of corporations. Republicans are even deeper in it.

I know you say you aren't a democrat, but you only ever play liberal vs. democrat on this board. Maybe in real life you are more objective in your viewpoints?

I get in bigger debates about the issues all the time, all the fucking time. Including on immigration, xenophobia and on economic issues. I am not only bashing republicans. I'm stating the facts about a variety of issues. And STOP trying to make this personal. I'm not on here to "gain" any support. And where was I wrong? Nobody plays games with me, period. And if they try they end up in the dust. It's not my fault some right wingers don't use their intellect.

THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO SIDES TO POLITICS. This is frankly annoying. Lets take off the blinders... politics is potentially a QUADRANT (and even that isn't a fully sufficient perspective)... it's not linear like the American system.
