EVERY single ad that mentioned sexual activity did it in that coded language, probably to meet censorship standards. I had no clue what it meant at first. Eventually I figured it out, and the exact thought that went through my head at the exact moment I figured it out was

Was actually what went through my mind at that exact moment. It never occurred to me that anyone would actually choose that kind of relationship without their own sexuality being kind of twisted by social pressure or gender role baggage.

And while intellectually I now realise how limited that perspective was, only partly true at best, or only true for some people, that was what the thought that popped into my head at a critical moment in the development of my own sexuality, and on the emotional level it kind of set the tone.
