Kevin McCaffrey lost his job because is gay and Kentucky said - you're right -- you were discriminated against but Kentucky law permits that -- so tough. He hasn't been able to find a job and is at the end of his financial rope.

I think he should sell up and come north where there discrimination based on sexuality is not legal and we appreciate Twinkle Toes..

Discrimination is discrimination, regardless of the type. So sad that the judge was so narrow minded and the laws so stupid.

We should not need separate laws for protection, discrimination or whatever.

How can they not see that this is wrong? In the US, you are only as free and equal as you are allowed to be.

This is why the federal ENDA law was so important. CA law doesn't permit this type of discrimination, but KY law does. It's a consequence of our federal system of government. A consistent national standard is needed, but the House Republicans will block it at every turn to placate their religious wignut base.

Indeed. It doesn't seem to be a government 'for the people, but a government 'for the religious wingnuts'.

The Christian religion holds too much power in the government. Until that changes, things like this story will not change. Christianity does not represent ALL Americans. I'm not even sure it represents a majority.

It's not a case of the Judge being narrow minded. He's there to apply the law. It's the legislators that need a kick in the arse so the laws are changed and this sort of crap can't happen.

It is unfair and terrible that he was fired.

It isn't so logical that his animal shelter/zoo/ranch for strays and exotic animals is going under. Having 300 animals, and exotic ones like llamas, is not an enterprise that should be entered into without a business plan. The webpage didn't seem to imply that it was anything other than an eccentric hobby.

But, the support shown him by the donors is inspiring, even if the cause seems a bit vague (the farm.)
