I gave an example as to how the generality of such a statement can be flawed. Its not enough to say 'such and such has done X amount of positive things, therefore they must be a good guy', because that would be a fallacy. You have to take into account the topic at hand, potential homophobia. It won't make an iota of a difference as to how much of a saint someone appears to be in relation to X amount of issues in the world, if when it comes down to issues that affect me, they'd become inconsistent in their nature.

I would argue very much so, that the conjecture which exists is far from a 'bandwagon' mentality. Critical thinking and reason IS evident here. Whilst it is true to say 'TT is a homophobe', is an unfounded conjecture (since no evidence exists that he is), there IS evidence to support the conjecture that he is at least 'anti-gay'. This is bound to provoke criticism. TT is not simply a christian, he is an evangelical christian. He supports an intolerant version of christianity. An intolerant version which is not simply in opposition to gay issues, but want to recreate a USA (and world) to their liking, and that means no room at the inn for gays (not to mention plenty of other groups that are 'sinners').
If TT is going to align himself with unsavoury characters and organisations in spreading his religious beliefs, its a pretty damn well-reasoned conjecture that he is a homophobe, and at the least, anti-gay. As a gay person, that negates all the wonderful contributions he may have made in the world, because he is not doing it as a good guy, he is doing it with an agenda, one harmful to me as a non-christian, let alone as a gay.

I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism").

3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different than you, or act different than you? How does gay marriage, in any way shape or form, affect your life? If gay marriage becomes legal, are you worried that all of a sudden you'll start thinking about penis? "Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!" Will all of your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely, since gay people enjoy watching football too.)

I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children. They won't magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population—rights like Social Security benefits, child care tax credits, Family and Medical Leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA healthcare for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gays? Full-fledged American citizens just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?

In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter, in some small way, causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot in mouth clusterfuck you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. I like to watch NFL football including the Super Bowl. I was watching the 2012 Super Bowl, minding my own business when all of a sudden, there is a "Right to Life" commercial on my TV... brought to us by Tim Tebow's mommie. When I am watching football, I am taking the opportunity to not have to think about anything important for four hours. If I wanted to hear a sermon, I would attend church.
