Seattle holds off on activating 30 spy cameras across city
Under the guise of 'terrorism protection' the city of Seattle has already begun walking back plans to use 30 spy cameras in locations along the Seattle waterfront. The process to approve the installation of those cameras was jammed through after an 11 minute debate.
Mayor McGinn has said the cameras wont be turned on until public sentiment can be heard.
There has never been a terrorist attack in Seattle , yet the DHS decided to provide a grant to buy the cameras, which would be used for domestic surveillance. While the cameras wouldn't have been able to see inside buildings, it would be able to track and identify every person within range. Its unclear if there is any conflict of interests between DHS and the manufacturer of the surveillance technology.
