wow, i've never lived in a high rised building before

Would you like to live like that or in an open space ?
For myself, i don't mind either way.

I could not live in a high rise. At least not on the upper floors...with a balcony. I have an irrational fear that I might sleepwalk one nite, and end up walking onto, and over, my patio....

It's Hong Kong. There's no room to grow out so they have to grow up. Almost 7,000 people per square kilometre live there. According to this website, Hong Kong is the world's most vertical metropolis:

I live 12 floors up in an inner-city block of flats on on hill.

It's not very high up compared to those pics but I get a 270 degree view of the city from my balcony.

I quite like it here ... but my dream home would really be in an isolated area of the countryside with a garden.

Those pictures are real but Hong Kong is surprisingly open too… But I guess it depends from one block to the next. I couldn't handle a vista like that. I'd immigrate.
Americans need to keep their guns so they can protect themselves from gun violence just like Nancy Lanza did. And like Chris Kyle did. And like Gabby Giffords did. And like Tom Clements did. And like Michael Piemonte. And Joseph Wilcox.

Ever since I started reading the Agatha Raisin stories by MC Beaton, I've wanted to live in a little cottage in the Cotswolds.

I'm a little afraid of heights, bu being inside didn't used to bother me much. Ever since there have been fires and other emergencies in high rises, I would be a little leary of living too high up. I could probably run down several flights of stairs, even twelve flights, but forty flights would be too much.

I'd prefer not to... tbh, it just seems like trying to keep mice/roaches out of those things is an impossible mission. my company wanted to ship me out to our Hong Kong offices a couple years ago, but I turned it down after talking to some people out there about the bug situation (basically, I was told that roaches and rats and lizards are just a part of life everyone there has to get used to, and they all have an exterminator come monthly to try and keep it down)

I'm an apartment dweller, but I really prefer 2-3 family houses (ideally one where the owner lives on-site as well). I find life is a lot better when you actually know your apartment neighbors. when the person living below you isn't some stranger you've never seen, you're less likely to blast your bass at 3 am.

I enjoy high rise only when I'm staying in hotels on short visits, but on long term/permanent basis I prefer open spaces with a garden over condos/high rise apartments.

I am quite used to living in high-rise buildings since starting college. My current building has 27 floors and the view is quite nice at night Though sometimes I do miss living in normal houses.

I once lived on the tenth floor with my 80-year-old father and loved it at first. But the elevators broke frequently, and walking upstairs with Dad was at least an hour. The heat was so strong that I only closed the windows all the way one winter when the high was below zero (F) for nine days. Then there was the night dozens of roaches came under the front door as the apt. upstairs was fumigated. Worst of all, no balcony. Getting outside was such an undertaking, I took to calling the apt. my open air coffin.

No fear of heights, and no clostrophobia, the elevators, but if the price is right would.

Too many of those high-rise buildings are like dog kennels or rabbit hutches. People don't LIVE in them, they exist.

I have a fear of heights as well. I once visited a friend living in a skyscraper on the tenth floor or so, I stepped out on the balcony and immediately had to go back in @_@

I'm also starting to raise fears about earthquakes and things that might fall down (melting ice plates after snowy days, suicidal people...).

Not only that ^ but you are surrounded by neighbours and share multiple walls. You will hear them or smell their lousy cooking not to mention at any hour. What if they have screaming kids or noisy dogs (yappers). And these hi rises are expensive AND you have association fees etc to pay. No thanks! Not to mention the ambient noise level in a large city can be a health risk...1000000 reasons not to EVER live in one of these cracker box tenements.

I used to live in one of these when I was a kid, better area though, not as closely packed as there was some scrub and pavement for a walk nearby.

It went up to Lv 18/21, though we've only lived on the 3F and 11F.

You don't need screens above the fourth floor - flys only fly so high - didn’t believe it before I lived there
