Indeed. Even if the mirror were angled, it would reflect his face in profile instead of head-on. And the faucet in the bathtub picture is off-centre.

The implication that we know anything about the personal lives of presidents is surprising.

We see how they handle press conferences, give speeches, interact with heads of states and politicians and voters, but we don't know much about their person.

Who knows which president enjoyed writing Christmas cards, or keeping odd pets, or making candy.

We applaud, cheer, or hate politicians at our whim, but presuming to really know a person who is a huge celebrity suggests that we sum up someone based on their press. That just seems silly. One may be a loving, doting grandfather, and still a total asshole when it comes to making national policy. The two don't have to have any correlation whatsoever.

Mr Bush might surprise you. Have you ever read about or seen pictures of the house that he and Laura built in Midland? Very modest in size, perhaps 10% of the size of Al Gore's house, and designed by an Austin architect/U of Texas prof to perform in all the ways that a modern ecologically sound house should. He may not talk the talk in this case (forbidden for Republicans), but he walks the walk.
