    Gay parents?

My mom is a lesbian and has been with her partner (South Carolina does not and probably never will recognize any form of gay marriage) for 6 or 7 years now. She came out to me, my father, and my brother shortly after I came out. So as misleading as the title may seem, does anyone else here have a parent/parents who is/are gay?

I'm a gay parent, but my kids have known since they were 8 and 3.

my personal experience , maybe generation-specific , more than a few exclusive lesbians now had straight relationships first , so many had children .

I suspect the opposite , having a gay father ,is fairly rare .

so gay marriage is I think necessary for the most practical of reasons , not as an institutional symbolic acceptance of gayness .

    Re: Gay parents?

I am a gay father. My daughters met my (now) husband when they were 7 and 9. Although things were a little rough at the beginning, everything has worked out very well for all of us. My husband and I got legally married in 2004 but just celebrated our 30th year together last December. We have two beautiful granddaughters who know us as Grampa and Gramps and skype with us regularly. My daughters (now in their late 30's) have told me that everything worked out and wouldn't change a thing. They love their parents and step-parents. At their step-brother's wedding all of us sat at the same table and considered ourselves as the new "Modern Family." As time goes on, gayness will be just as ordinary as blue/brown eyes, blond/black hair or tall/short people and so on.

Gay father here as well, I have twin boys who are now 16 they have known since they were 8. They are comfortable with it and have no problems, I even just found out they have told friends which I think is pretty cool for 16 year olds.
