Are the people of JUB representative of the gay or bi population?

Considering that the majority of gays on JUB are lurkers who never posts, I guess that could be representative of the majority of gays who are not completely out.

For those of us who are omnipresent or even sometime visible in posts, I'd say no, we do not represent proportionately the gay population, but we are a magnified types within a much larger and more diverse array.

I think it varies a lot by subforum, if you visit some of the subforums just the opposite paradigm seems the norm-- online hookups and such.

Craigslist and bath houses are geared toward hooking up in the flesh meeting. Here at JUB few are local to each other, and I feel it's geared toward conversation. That's not to say many here don't use craigslist and bath houses... you're just not seeing that side of us... (I have actually never used either of those two samples).

It will be a good day when a community, any community, can be represented by it's diversity and not a static image.

If bathhouses and craigslist were the most representative of the gay community, then it would give some vindication to those who like to spew the propaganda that we're all slutty heathens. I think that JUB is more representative of the entire community, as this site includes people ranging from promiscuous to the steadfastly monogamous, as well as the entirely closeted, the bi-curious, the inactive, etc. Some of these groups of people never end up entering the hookup world.

Well, honestly I think it's an evenly mixed bag. I've been here long enough and I've seen a little bit of everything. Plus, not everyone is just ONE thing.

I'm in a monogamous relationship and I'm very conservative/traditional when it comes to relationships, but mentally (and when not attached) I'm quite "slutty".

Plus, I used Craigslist from time to time when I was single, and I really don't know why people like to categorize it as the lowest of the low. I met some really great guys on that site outside of the amazing hookups.

And as mentioned earlier--the further you venture outside of hot topics, the more variety you will find here. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but just saying...

imagine that we are all individuals who have the same sexual orientation.

would we all go to same gay clubs, baths, and would some of us not go to pride. Respect their choice.
