    Re: Commitment symbols

Those first ones must be a bitch to wear when they're intertwined like that. Or is that the point?

My partner gave me a ring when we first got together. It was a plain gold band that used to belong to his great-aunt, who apparently had huge hands, because the ring fit perfectly. I had it for about four years, but lost it while swimming in the ocean and the ring slipped off my hand. We've discussed getting replacements, but decided we didn't need them.

We exchanged rings that we had designed. They are a simple design like the first photo, made of platinum and gold. You can see the swirl of the metals, which represents the blending of our lives. The inscription is private. I am not into flashy jewelry or jewelry with stones.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.

I thought it was interesting when I read of a couple who exchanged rings with black diamonds. I didn't know black diamonds even existed. I'm not sure if there was some message in the stones or not.Click image for larger version.

    Re: Commitment symbols

We have plenty things in our lives that represent our commitment to one another, shared assets, debts, history, dreams, inside jokes, we don't need a ring. We have our own cycles.

    Re: Commitment symbols

I'd be happy with a simple gold band if I were ever to marry. My husband would be free to select whatever he pleased, including nothing if that were his preference.
