Warwickshire Born 'n' Bred.
But 'Merica is the world.
"World news" is all about America.
Example:
Base ball "world" series championship
NEVER LISTEN TO A ONE SIDED STORY AND JUDGE.
You can toss "news" in quotes, too.

ABC has never been anything intellectual. Nightly programming used to be the definition of lowest common denominator.
When I was a kid, their news was fair, but it is weak now. I just can't stand network television.
Folks, "ABC World News" is the brand that ABC (aka Disney) uses for their national newscast.
NBC (aka General Electric) calls their broadcast "NBC Nightly News"
CBS (aka CBS Corp.) has the "CBS Evening News"
ABC had a similar bland sounding name "The ABC Evening News" until 1978, when genius ABC sports producer Roone Arledge was named president of ABC News. He "jazzed" up the national newscast with three anchors (veteran Frank Reynolds in Washington, the first African-American anchor to anchor a nightly newscast, Max Robinson in Chicago, and the suave foreign correspondent, Peter Jennings anchoring from ABC's London bureau). It was a semi-success that lasted until Frank Reynolds' death from cancer. Then, the decision was made to bring Jennings back from London, base him in New York (like the other networks), and Robinson was dropped. Jennings went on to dominate the ratings (occasionally eclipsed by NBC's Tom Brokaw) until his own untimely death. And if you are wondering, CBS continued to hide behind the the big shadows of their larger than life legends Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, while serving the American people a steady diet of Dan Rather (who was neither large or legendary).
ABC has some of the most handsome (and talented) younger journalists including the sexy Gio Benitez, David Muir (a guy from Syracuse who is just totally hot), the athletic Matt Gutman (who does all of the wet and dirty assignments for ABC's Good Morning America), and Josh Elliott, whose kinda tall, goofy and sexy.

Yeah, the idiom of "40 and single" means they're gay. There are some true straight bachelors out there but we would know about his womanizing.
He used to do local Boston coverage on ABC. ABC locally has always been ranked 3rd. It goes CBS>FOX>>>>>NBC>NBC.
BTW Ronboy, Comcast bought out a majority stake of NBC.
All I ever see on World News is about how "wonderful" China is. No Tiannamon Square massacre according to them!
SBS World news is much better
All the American News programs have been gutting the ranks of journalists around the world and mostly just stick to the news feeds from Twitter in the great 'dumbing down of everything' era.
I think that after their audience got tired of actually seeing and hearing what was going on in the rest of the world, it was pretty predictable that the news programs would focus on domestic matters unless there was some American angle to a foreign news story. And that angle always seems to be a problem over the last eight years.
Iraq and Afghanistan have dropped out of sight almost entirely and only Iran, Syria and Israel seem to have any resonance for a north American audience, as the old white conservatives are just Jonesing to blow up Iran.
Gio is pretty hot, I still remember the image of Matt Gutman drenched from a hurricane or something, his shirt clinging to his body, wow!
ABC is ok, it could be worse - FOX!
IMHO Gio Benitez is looks like our old JUBber Absolut

Gio used to work for CBS 4 down here in South Florida, I would always "perk up" when the announcer would say "with Gio Benitez reporting"
Mitchy anytime any American news station or channel refers to "world news" I tend to regard it almost more like a brand name or something. To my knowledge short of certain pay cable channels there really isn't something you can tune into and you're going to get comprehensive ongoing news about stuff outside of the U.S., unless it's somehow directly tied to America somehow. I'm sure we hear way, way more about Israel than pertinent news in a lot of other countries just because of the perception (or reality) that our interests are more interlinked.
Oops you guys were talking about the American ABC World News. I thought you were talking about the Australian ABC World News.
I'll just quietly vacate the thread.
Yes, more America bashing simply because we like to have a news program that covers the entire country, and not just our town. I'm sure all the news overseas is very serious and not at all about ratings.![]()
Proud gun carrying American
By your avatar, i'm imagining you wearing a patch over an eye. Do us all a favour, clasp it firmly in your hand, pull it away from your face as far as it will stretch, and then release. Then come back when you've woken up, cos you've clearly not got the gist of this thread.
