In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Since I can't fix the typo, that's mayor, LOL
I was impressed, the Mator language has been extinct since the 1800's.
Anyone would be an improvement over the current mayor of L.A., Tony Villar.
Tony Villar's wife filed for divorce after it was revealed that Tony Villar was having an affair with an anchorwoman/reporter for Telemundo (Spanish language TV station).
A couple months ago Tony Villar went down to Cabo San Lucas and partied with Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen tweeted that "the mayor of L.A. is a party animal." When the media started asking Tony why he would allow himself to be photographed partying with Charlie Sheen, Tony Villar replied, "I'm in the picture-taking business!"
Then when the media reporters asked Tony Villar what he's currently doing for the people of L.A., he replied "Oh, I'm going to Washington DC to speak out about immigration reform."
Meanwhile, he wants L.A. voters to approve yet another tax increase.
Tax, Tax, Tax....
The good news is he'll be out of office soon. The bad news is that Tony Villar is probably going to be appointed to an Obama cabinet position. Surprise, Surprise....
I love John & Ken.........they're so awesome
I used to be like that, but not anymore. At least not on the first date. Third date, whole other story..."
I'm sorry you don't care enough about our state to think it should be anything other than a gated libertarian anarchy. But I'm also glad you're a minority here.
So what? That's his private life.Tony Villar's wife filed for divorce after it was revealed that Tony Villar was having an affair with an anchorwoman/reporter for Telemundo (Spanish language TV station).
So what? He's been doing a fine job as mayor in reducing crime to the lowest poitns in decades and guiding this city through a recession attracting businesses back.A couple months ago Tony Villar went down to Cabo San Lucas and partied with Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen tweeted that "the mayor of L.A. is a party animal." When the media started asking Tony why he would allow himself to be photographed partying with Charlie Sheen, Tony Villar replied, "I'm in the picture-taking business!"
This isn't on the common person... it's more on the rich.Meanwhile, he wants L.A. voters to approve yet another tax increase.
Tax, Tax, Tax....
Because he has proven an effective mayor. The good news is he'll be out of office soon. The bad news is that Tony Villar is probably going to be appointed to an Obama cabinet position. Surprise, Surprise....
California recently voted to approve a tax increase because there is a growing sense that if we want a service we need to pay for it. The California republican party is a nasty mess right now. Arnold left it smoldering in ruin.
http://www.ericgarcetti.com/ - He will likely be LA's next mayor... and he will continue the good work Antonio Villaraigosa has done.
I echo the same sentiments as Xbuzzer. Apparently one from Orange county shouldn't be sticking their nose into our business up here in LA... Orange County is still on the verge of financial ruin, while we stabilized our situation. I would never vote for a republican here... they ruined LA in the past and we don't need them again.
More on LA's race:
Eric Garcetti is ahead with 24%, Wendy Greuel at 20% (her popularity sunk after questions about ethics), Jan Perry at 15% and other minor candidates taking lesser percentages. So where is Kevin James in this? He's at 12%. 12% of voters support him... no way should someone like that who has such little support be elected Mayor, especially not in a city of mostly democrats.
We don't need a damn fiscal conservative here in LA, and we will not get one. The two way run off this city has for the Mayor election will either be between Garcetti and Greuel, or Garcetti and Jan Perry. But I think Greuel will remain in this one.
I've learned that LA has heavily socialist leanings so that is kind of a loss cause. They voted to increase legislation that would drive away an industry that brought some nice tax dollars to their county.
Would CA please fall off into the Pacific.

Don't see the loss.
I've been to your nice state. Many times.. The Pacific is alluring.
Maybe he should be a matador.
Just imagine if LA had socialist tax rates like Boston does which makes me regret moving into the city. I paid $1280 in local taxes this past year just on my income and we rent property. Dare I imagine if we owned property in the city. Last year I paid $478.
LA isn't socialist and its tax rates aren't like that of Boston. Why is this city socialist when it has the highest number of entrepreneurs in the country comparable to other major cities? Yes, please. Leave that tired argument at home.
I view prop 30 where California voters gained some sense as a step in the right direction.
There was a debate tonight with all the candidates, including Garcetti, Greuel and James... and James showed how incompetent he was. Garcetti ran circles around Greuel and James all night long. James was a total disaster in all honesty... but I'll try to get the video posted later when it's on youtube. It was only a local debate and I didn't even know it was on until I was flipping through channels.
And not only that... James is taking tons of money from a rich billionaire whose donated to some controversial groups including one that distributed total lies about Obama. Yeah, being bankrolled by an idiot who called Obama the most dangerous person alive.
Why the fuck is some Texas billionaire trying to wreck our city? That's a good question. Riordan was a disaster enough... we don't need another republican.
The biggest obstacle—never mind any talk about victory—is his being a gay Republican.Kevin L. James, a conservative talk show host running for mayor of Los Angeles, was sitting in his campaign office recently pondering which was his bigger obstacle to victory: being openly Republican, or being openly gay.
As it stands right now,I consider anyone who is a gay Republican to be a fool. I understand there are different political leanings but as long as the Republican party has making the LGBT population second class citizens for life as one of their goals,I'll be damned if I support them.
People in L.A. don't really have any idea what an actual rabid Southern Pub looks like. My experience was that the WEHO boys didn't really believe that Texas wasn't some kind of reality show. But then Texans don't really believe that California isn't a communist conspiracy - so there you are.
ATTACK OF THE LIBERAL ELITE
This republican piece of crap must have took advice from Rove:
He's released an over the top republican-esque ad.
LA isn't CONVINCED. It's had very few views. Nobody is paying attention to this loser... and his ad is nothing less than defamatory towards both Greuel and Garcetti. Typical Rove ad... wouldn't surprise me if he got help from Rove.
As for the candidate...gay Republican..UGH
Yeah, they smeared Gray Davis. Davis was slow to act on many things, but Schwarzenegger was the biggest disaster we have had to face as a state. His incompetence was marked throughout his failed administration. I regret having voted for him once... in the recall. Should have voted for Cruz Bustamente.
If anyone is interested... our election was today.
So far as of this post, Garcetti and Greuel are in the top 2 spots (30% each roughly)... James is behind Jan Perry.
Even with our ridiculously low turn-out (I think Baghdad gets a better turnout), douchebag should stay in third or fourth.
edit: By the way, top 2 spots go to May run-off. Wonderful. So I need to deal with more ads... I like Garcetti... but it's the same three ads for both candidates all the time.

He came in third. Thank goodness he's out. If our turnout was higher than the depressing 16%, he would have come in 5th or 6th. It's now between Garcetti and Greuel. We don't need some conservative radio show host as mayor bankrolled by billionaires.
