Jindal: Republicans Must Stop Being the "Stupid Party"

    Tall order.

"We've got to stop being the stupid party. It's time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults," he said. "We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I'm here to say we've had enough of that."
    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/art...ty_116797.html

    Is it possible?

This is the party that held its meetings in a room named for the slave owning Burwell plantation owner. The subject of discussion? How to better communicate with minorities.

And yes. That is a civil war cannon on the golf course.

“Rape is a four letter word — don’t say it,” the group was advised by a Republican pollster in one session, said a person familiar with the discussion. That was a reference to controversies about rape and abortion that helped lose the party two Senate seats in November.

Hopefully the golf and the hookers were good.

    Really?

This is what you "rubbed one out" over this morning?

Jindal is a Republican Governor of the State of Lou-Easy-Anna.

He traces his "heritage" back to India.

    Apparently he's launching a bid for re-election.

    Or the White House.

Either way I'm willing to bet that British Petroleum is offering to bank roll the deal.
Never regret anything, because in that moment it's exactly what you wanted.

His original name is Piyush. I think he was the governor who rejected federal funding, took it anyway and got the credit for it.

    Oh, that check!

It took him that long to realize that?

And yea, Jindal is a hypocrite. One that should be ignored.

I don't understand the connection in what could have been a good thread with slavery and civil war cannons. The history is what it is, would you prefer everything erased? There are millions of roads, towns, places named after or for events of the time. Outside of Washington DC there are civil war cannons in places other than the National monuments.
620,000 Americans died in the civil war, most of the battles , death and destruction was in the south. That is a huge part of the population in 1863 America, especially when you consider that in all other wars combined since the civil war the total death of Americans is about 644,000.

This is something that deserves to be remembered. If you tried to rename every thing that has a bad historical event around it the global maps would be pretty blank.

It sounds possibly like he is blaming this mostly on the far-fringe crazy who lost seats in the last cycle, like the slew of wildly offensive and out of touch comments on rape and such. But if Jindal wants to talk about how the Republican Party needs to start acting and talking more like adults, that is not an order that applies only to the fringe crazies. The main GOP establishment members behaving as they have in negotiations throughout Obama's first term has also been, putting it mildly, petulant and childish. They are not coming to the table to help govern as adults.

That's what he says, but his actions prove quite another. If there's a program in Louisiana that benefits the poor, rest assured Jindal has already gutted it.

Isn't he slapping his constituents in the face? I wonder if New Orleans could sway that state to go the other way in elections... probably not seeing as it went 57%-40% to Romney. These republican states... they think they can make it without big government... lol.

Damn it. You beat me to it. You think if he used his given name, he would have been elected? I doubt it.

"Republicans Must Stop Being the "Stupid Party" - a daunting task.

It appears that the Republicons didn't learn anything from the presidential election. Their meeting room was named after a slave owner. It's like "Gun Appreciation Day" being held on Martin Luther King's birthday. Its like our lord and savior Ronald of Reagan announcing his candidacy for president from Philadelphia, Mississippi - site of Medgar Evers' murder.

Perhaps the NRA can schedule another homage to the Second Amendment on May 29 - JFK's birthday. How patriotic can you get! I'm sure that African-Americans will flock to the polls in 2014 to have the privilege of voting Republicon.

I don't think they can stop being stupid. The groups of people these politicians court.... gun nuts, right wing religious zealots, and others in the extreme have sucked the lifeblood out of the political party. It's become the party. When you recruited those filled with fear, prejudice & hate like they've been doing since the corrupt Reagan administration, if they stopped being the party of stupid there would be a total of 3 people remaining. They'd have to call them selves something else.

Similarly, I'm always saying that Richard Nixon would have a great legacy if he hadn't been so damned paranoid: OSHA, opening the gate to China, EPA, detente, desegregation...I could go on. Problem is, if he hadn't been paranoid, he wouldn't have been Nixon. One of the last words I would use to describe Nixon would be stupid.

That was such an idiotic thing for Jindal to say. Republicans say that stupid stuff because that's what they really think. I interpret Jindal's comment to mean that republicans need to get better at hiding and lying about their beliefs so they can better fool the rest of the country. Which I might add, the republican party is pretty damn good at fooling the country already. They just let some of the biggest fools get too far and expose their lunacy.

I will only believe the republican party has turned some kind corner when I hear them say "We don't need to just stop saying stupid things, we need to stop believing these stupid things and start accepting fact-based reality." I don't expect that to happen any time soon.

That is incidentally the exact 'lesson' the GOP has taken from their evisceration in 2012. "Nothing was wrong with our message, we just disseminated it badly. Oh and we didn't do enough voter suppression and gerrymandering."

Actions speak louder then words. When will the GOP get the nerve to tell Rush Limbaugh where to shove it? Never they will come back and kiss his ass.

Fox News fandom is down... be happy.

    Fox News:
    - Poisoning hearts (anger, bitterness and hate-coincidence that these emotions paralize thought? no)
    - Poluting minds (innuendo, half-truths, and lies)

...rending our old and less-informed, more hateful and miserable 24/7.

Making those who should be more loving and wise, ignorant and toxic.

Umm... yeah Fox News. I can add so many dimensions to their wrong. Corrupting hearts, poisoning minds, what more need be said.

    ENEMY of LIFE and TRUTH.

Toxic shit flingers, rendering our loved old ones shit-for-brains. (sorry old ones, you watched and we saw what pathetic, week, stupid human beings you became -- you make the younger ones sad )

Ropert Murdock, you are less than pond SCUM.

It is interesting though to see that they are apparently going to embrace their amigos from Latin America because as McCain frankly admits....if they don't they are going to keep losing.

At the moment, they are squirming with immigration reform and the only thing they have to hang their hat on is rallying the religious hispanic voters against homo marriage and abortion.

So let's see how they manage to fuck this up.
