And black history month is off to a rousing start. Fire everyone bitch.
And black history month is off to a rousing start. Fire everyone bitch.
She is a pastor. How do she give 10%?
She meant she take 10% from other people.
NEVER LISTEN TO A ONE SIDED STORY AND JUDGE.
I could care-less about the Pastor's comments and I don't care that he's a Fellow Christian.....Big Damn Deal...Christians have bad days to and maybe that was his....Waitresses deal with Jerks all day every day....This is NOT a News Flash...
The Waitress that took the Cell-Pic of the note and BLASTED it online knowing the Pastors Name was visible DESERVED to lose her job. People have to learn to STOP using Cyber-Space as a way to vent Anger especially if it could lead back to your place of employment....
The Waitress that was left the note got over it and went home that night and probably had a good time with her Life......
Why feel sorry for the other chick that decided to involve herself when the Guy wasnt even HER customer....She's stupid....Let this be a learning lesson for her..She won't be putting Customers on Blast online anytime soon...And if she does it again she deserves to lose her job AGAIN...
^^^so glad that some jubbers are more ignorant then others.
it's a fucking woman (so called paster) MisterMajestic
don't know if it's been mentioned yet because i didn't look through the entire thread. there's a lot of posts BUT the waiter that posted the note from the pastor has been fired.
what do you guys have to say about this?
Having bused tables before I can definitely say that the EXCEPTION are the few nice church people out there.
As a rule, the nicer the suits and dress they wear, the lower the tip.
I once worked in a grocery store and lasted there for 3 months.
This customer was returning a pack of ham slices which had gone bad before the expiration date. He kept it at room temperate and still demanded to get a full refund. When I told we couldn't refund it because it wasn't stored properly he became verbally offensive, threw it in my face and walked away. Real nice to get the rotten liquid on my face.
I walked out and never returned and promised myself I would never do these type of jobs again.
Of course I didn't do it only because of this incident but it was the tipping point. Going through psychological abuse daily is something I can't take for a long time.
When I eat wit my housemate she always leaves a lot of tips for the waiters and she used to be a waitress herself.
For me it's the other way round though lol. The 2 times I went to a Fast food joint, once at Mcdonald's when I told the girl I wanted just the fries. She asked me "just fries only, nothing else?" in a very loud tone, then she glared at me for few seconds lol.
The second time was when I wanted to cancel one of the orders. The person in charge reacted by punching on the order screen. And then slashing the card vigorously on the machine. I was like ok.....I felt pretty bad
I don't imagine a whole lot of dentists or accountants have clients come in in a bad mood and start screaming in their face or throwing things in their office, or just being generally super hostile from the beginning to the end of their meeting. It certainly wouldn't be the norm. In many service jobs, being abused by customers is the norm. Not the exception. Because most people feel, especially for as long as they're a customer (regardless of what they may do themselves professionally) that they are above the person they're dealing with.
Laufey's example and your friend's experience at McDonald's are cases in point and much more typical in these kinds of jobs than in office jobs or professional jobs.
whoops, sorry for that, man.
i agree with you on what you saying but being that the customer is a pastor, i think she should be put on full blast for that though. she's one of those folks that become a pastor or get involved with religion and preaching for the money.
^oh come on hard wired to be rude and intolerant of others?
this woman was a woman of god and she looks and behaves like a total child.
the only hard wired in her is the lack of intelligence and normal behavior.
Clash of the Johans
I always get the feeling from your posts in HT that you're looking for a fight^.
Knysna SeahorseThe worst thing...is not energy depletion, economic collapse, conventional war, or the expansion of totalitarian governments. As terrible as these catastrophes would be for us, they can be repaired in a few generations. The one process now going on that will take millions of years to correct is loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly our descendants are least likely to forgive us.--e.o. wilson
This pastor was in a public place being rude to an employee in public in front of other people sitting around her. Anyone, including another guest could have walked by and took a glance at what she left for a tip out of curiosity and posted that pic. Does she think she's entitled to go around leaving nasty notes to employees like that, and everyone is supposed to keep hush hush? It's unfortunate the employee got fired, but I'm sure she will find another job, particularly since most people seem to feel sorry for her. That pastor bitch on the other hand might as well forget about going out to eat anymore in the near future, nobody is going to want to wait on her ass knowing how she is.
It's common knowledge that parties of 8 or more have gratuity automatically added to the check. I worked as a server and saw the same people come in over and over again and feign outrage over it and act like it's the first time they are finding out about it. It's restaurant policy, it's not the server's fault. They can't do anything about it and neither can the management because doing so would actually be considered discrimination.
Policies like that are in place because otherwise, large parties of people have a tendency to screw the servers over on tips. Either one person pays the bill and gets sticker shock and doesn't want to leave a proportionate tip, or everyone gets separate checks and assume that all the other people will be leaving tips so they don't have to - then hardly anyone ends up leaving a tip.
What you might call a "tip" the government calls them "wages" and the server is taxed on them. They are required to claim at least 8% of their total sales each day as tips/wages, even if they had a bad day and didn't actually make that much. So when you stiff over a server, not only did they not make any money off your table and wasted their time, they actually had to pay for the privilege to wait on you by getting taxed on wages they never received.
Gratuity is part of the cost of dining out, period. If you cannot afford it, then you cannot afford to go out to eat. End of story. I tip *above* 15-20% if I get exceptionally good service, but I always leave at the very least 15%. They did wait on me, regardless of whether it was stellar or not. I don't expect people to wait on me for free.
What makes this even worse, is that at many restaurants servers are also required to tip out the bussers, food runners and bartenders at the end of the night based off their total sales. So if they get stiffed on a table, they're still expected to tip all those other employees out too for doing their job.
If you have a problem with how restaurants grossly underpay their employees and expect them to make a living off of gratuities alone, write a letter to their corporate headquarters expressing your concerns and/or refrain from patronizing them. Don't take it out on the servers after you've stuffed your face and hung out in their section for two hours chatting.
I'm not a fan of the tip system and I'm glad we don't have it here.
I sometimes forget to tip when I'm traveling abroad... whoopsie!
The USA claims to be egalitarian but seems to be riddled with 'slave-like' working conditions for the poor.
My federal government (inept as it is) at least set minimum wages back in the 1910s.
It's a problem across our entire economy, it doesn't end at restaurants, and it won't be easy to fix. It will require a change in social consciousness where people say "I am willing to pay more for my goods, food and services because I want people to live decently off providing them to me." Right now everyone will sit around and bitch about Wal*Mart or whatever else. But they'll shop there, because it's cheap, and their decision en masse to patronize those businesses or restaurants that use illegal labor or whatever else dictates the terms on which everyone else has to compete.
so it's economic globalisation now and the Orwell's prophecies from 1984 are coming to reality next
I've been in the food/customer service field since i've been working. There have been so many times i've been disrespected for no reason other than my job. I've been a server for the last 3 years i cant believe some of the shit people have put me through.
One woman actually threw her drink on me because it wasn't fresh squeezed orange juice, i wasn't even the one that took the order FUCK we didn't even serve fresh squeezed. One Guy was paying for a group of 8, he argued with the manager got it removed and even told the group to not tip since it was already included. The last bitch i dealt started yelling at me about the onions on her omelet, i was sent home and then because she was a regular they tried to change my shift which i couldn't work.
THE nerve of some people is unbelievable. I'm still looking for a job and fuck do i not want another customer service job. FUCK
It's instructive to read the links and watch the video.
The pastor is an ill-educated, formerly homeless woman from the underclass trying to get ahead. In the interview she seemed nice enough, and impressively stupid. She appeared clueless, with no sense of irony.
The server is better educated, from the middle class and trying to get ahead. In the interview she seemed nice enough, and reasonably intelligent. She appeared self-aware, with a strong sense of irony.
The pastor would appear to be going nowhere; the server would appear to have a future.
Everyone should check out bitterwaitress.com
Everyone with a good-paying job should tip 20% minimum.
Gay men have the reputation of being the best tippers. Single women and blacks the worst.
There's a guide I've heard about with tips as to how to get better tips. Names on checks help, touching customer on the back helps also.
If you're a guy with a female table, crouching down to talk to your customers at eye level is a very good tip generator.
if you don't tip me and come back I would then spit in your food.
ignorant people should be treated with ignorance.
