Kien,
It does look like the SF bus finally arrived with their "A" game during the outage.
Sadly, it looks like Baltimore's "A" game thought the game was over and went home.
And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .
Even in soccer, you never take your foot off the gas. This reminds me of what happened to Milan-Liverpool in 2005... Milan was 3 goals up... ehh... I don't even want to talk about it.
It looks like one team took their foot off the gas. But then again I don't even know how this game operates or the rules, nor do I really care.
Defense! Defense!
Fans are all in all well behaved but very loud of course....different from european football where they kill each other sometimes...
I am working on what form my JUB reincarnation will take...
Another Baltimore field goal......
San Fran is still has some fight left though...
It turned out to be a pretty good game.....
it's all coming down to the last 5 minutes!

The Ravens (who originally "stole" a franchise from Cleveland) are no longer illegitimate.

Beyonce Super Bowl XLVII halftime performance

I totally forgot it was yesterday, tuned in when halftime show and blackout was over, and I didn't care for the rest of the game. I don't know why everyone was going crazy over the CK commercial it looked generic to me.

Found game to be of interest once the 49's made run. The ads were not up par but enjoyed the Taco Bell, Budwiser the most. The part I enjoyed the most was seeing the students of Sandy Hook singing at the pre game activities.
I missed most of it...including the 109 yard return, which I'll have to look for. It's not possible for a return to go much farther than that.
I definitely liked the Dodge [God created a farmer] ad...as with teachers, firefighters, and police, that's another group of people who don't get much respect.

I don't understand the appeal. It's extraordinarily boring to me. I've also read somewhere the average play time is actually only 10 minutes? Pointless to me. At least with other sports like hockey or skiing or whatever, there's significant "up-time". Why baseball, basketball and American football are so appealing down there, I'll never know. American sports culture is something I've never understood.

It's a social event for most of us. I don't follow sports closely, but I participate in the pool at work - it's a blind draw, so no skill required. Gives everyone something to talk about.
Congrats to the Ravens.

Clearly said before Coryell, Gilbride, and Gibbs popularized the run and shoot offense.
Yes. I almost made a comment about the shift to the passing game.
The movie is pretty good, in any event.

Beyonce Draws Estimated 104 Million to Super Bowl Halftime
The half-hour that included Beyonce’s performance at Super Bowl XLVII was one of the most watched segments of the NFL championship on Sunday, hitting an average of about 104 million viewers, Billboard estimates, based on Nielsen data.
Nielsen estimated 108.41 million viewers tuned in for the Super Bowl, making it the third-most-watched program in television history behind Super Bowl XLVI and Super Bowl XLV. Nielsen, heeding CBS’s request, is not counting the 34-minute power outage delay in its ratings.
The halftime show began shortly before 8:10 p.m. ET and between 8 and 8:30, the show did a 48.2 rating, according to Nielsen’s metered market ratings. Based on Nielsen’s math of a little more than two viewers per television set, the viewership is in the 104 million ballpark. It is highly likely that when final numbers are released, Beyonce’s total will be lower than the 104 million estimate.
The block with Beyonce’s 14-minute performance outperformed the previous half-hour by three-tenths of a rating point. The Baltimore Ravens-San Francisco 49ers game peaked, audience-wise, between 10:30 and 10:47 p.m. when an average of 113.982 million viewers were watching.
The audience for Beyonce trailed Madonna’s performance at last year’s Super Bowl. Madge attracted 112.5 million viewers, surpassing the 95.7 million who watched Bruce Springsteen in 2009.
Beyonce’s performance was a showcase to promote her upcoming tour that will start with a June 28 concert at L.A.’s Staples center. Her show will be the kickoff of a three-day BET Experience at L.A. Live that will include music and comedy concerts, film screenings, “106 & Park” tapings, BET Fan Fest, seminars, a Grammy Museum exhibit and other events.

Thank you!!
Some of these sports make so little sense to me, I just don't get it. Basketball is one of them too. If you see professionals playing basketball, it's so boring because all they're doing is passing the ball to each other and shooting hoops from like any place on the court. It's so stupid. I can't understand people who get glued to it. Basically, you give any player on either team a 1-2 second opening, it's a shot through the hoop.
American football as well. Had to play it in High school and didn't like it. It's basically like someone with a giant remote with the buttons "start" and "stop" is playing a prank on you and everyone else in the game every few seconds.
Super Bowl Blackout Watched By 106.6 Million
NEW YORK — As it does nearly every year, the Super Bowl will almost certainly stand as the most-watched television event of 2013. This year, the Blackout Bowl wasn't too far behind.
CBS prevailed upon the Nielsen Co. to estimate how many viewers watched the Baltimore Ravens' victory over the San Francisco 49ers while excluding the 34 minutes in the third quarter where the game was stopped because of a partial power outage in the Superdome. The game was seen by an average of 108.7 million people, down from the last two years but still ranking as the third most-watched show in U.S. television history.
Leaving aside the outage period, which came at a time the Ravens had a big lead, was likely CBS' attempt to nudge the viewership to a historically high level.
Yet few people were interested in tuning out. Nielsen said 106.6 million watched the power outage delay, which was basically extended scenes of first half highlights and players stretching to keep warm.
CBS dominated the week's non-football programming, too. In a positive sign for Fox, its new drama "The Following" was the most-watched scripted show on ABC, NBC or Fox last week, Nielsen said.
Skewed by Super Sunday, CBS averaged 28 million viewers in prime time for the week (13.6 rating, 22 share). Fox was second with 6.2 million viewers (3.7, 6), ABC had 4.7 million (3.1, 5), NBC had 3.9 million (2.6, 4), the CW had 1.6 million (1.0, 2) and ION Television had 1.2 million (0.8, 1).
Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision led with 3.6 million (1.9, 3), Telemundo had 1.2 million (0.6, 1), UniMas had 750,000 (0.4, 1), Estrella had 210,000 and Azteca had 120,000 (both 0.1, 0)
NBC's "Nightly News" topped the evening newscasts with an average of 9.2 million viewers (5.9, 12). ABC's "World News" was second with 8.3 million (5.6, 11) and the "CBS Evening News" had 6 million viewers (3.9, 8).
A ratings point represents 1,147,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 114.7 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.
For the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3, the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships: Super Bowl XLVII: Baltimore vs. San Francisco, CBS, 108.69 million; "Super Bowl Power Outage," CBS, 106.56 million; "NCIS," CBS, 22.07 million; "The Big Bang Theory," CBS, 17.76 million; "NCIS: Los Angeles," CBS, 17.3 million; "American Idol" (Wednesday), Fox, 15.78 million; "Person of Interest," CBS, 15.71 million; "American Idol" (Thursday), Fox, 13.8 million; "Two and a Half Men," CBS, 13.7 million; "Blue Bloods," CBS, 11.5 million.

End homophobia in professional sports
Brendon Ayanbadejo 1p.m. EST February 6, 2013
As leaders for millions of young people across the globe, athletes have the ability to eliminate prejudice from our sport and live up to the incredible privilege we enjoy.
he trailer for the upcoming film "42" begins with a silhouetted baseball player walking down the tunnel toward the dugout. A voice says: "I don't know who he is, or where he is, but he's coming." The scene captures the anticipation of Jackie Robinson crossing the Major League Baseball color barrier. That moment just before history is made is a moment that sure feels a lot like now, as we wait for the arrival of the first openly gay man in U.S. major professional team sports.
Just like Jackie, the breakthrough gay athlete will be a courageous individual going it alone in uncharted territory. But, also like Jackie, he will have backup -- and hopefully more of it.
One of the seminal moments of Jackie Robinson's first season with the Brooklyn Dodgers was when teammate Pee Wee Reese put his arm around Jackie during a game and then faced the crowd. The message was clear: teammates are teammates. Brothers. Reese wasn't a civil rights advocate. But he wasn't merely a good guy either. Reese was exactly what the codes of sportsmanship expected him to be, someone who knew what was right and did it despite the risks. Simply put, he was an ally.
I know that there are plenty of good men in the NFL. I am fortunate to play alongside them as a member of the Super Bowl XLVII champion Baltimore Ravens. Together the Ravens became world champions. Together we can be more than Super Bowl winners. Together athletes in all four of our country's major sports leagues -- the NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA -- can be more than good men. Since human rights are far more important than sports, we need to be Athlete Allies who are willing to leverage our social capital and all that goes with it -- like fans, endorsement deals and more -- to stand up for a larger purpose.
That's why I began advocating for marriage equality four years ago. As the child of a Nigerian dad and Irish-American mom, I was raised to believe that, in America, our differences don't matter and discrimination is wrong. During my career in the NFL, I've watched LGBT Americans struggle to make gains in legislatures, schools and boardrooms around the country. Since I first signed with the Falcons in 1999, Wall Street and corporate America have worked to create internal departments and networks focused on LGBT diversity and inclusion. The largest companies in the world have signed on to legal briefs in support of marriage rights for same-sex couples and CEOs have publicly spoken out for LGBT rights. What's even more inspiring is that, after decades of discrimination against gay and lesbian members of the United States military, President Obama ended "don't ask, don't tell." The president made history again in his inaugural address, when he called for equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans -- including the right to marry whomever they love.
With these successes piling up and progress on the rise, an issue closer to home comes more sharply in focus: the sports world -- my world -- is the last closet in America.
There are many reasons why no gay athlete has come out in the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB, most of which are likely to go away with support and acceptance from the straight community. As leaders and even role models for millions of young people across the globe, professional athletes have the ability to fundamentally eliminate prejudice from our sport and live up to the incredible privilege we enjoy.
At its best, sports do not discriminate. If you are young or old, tall or short, male or female, gay or straight, all that really matters is how well you play and contribute to your team.
The NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA should and can be leaders against discrimination. Whether you're a commissioner, an athlete, a coach or a fan, your voice will let every kid out there know that there is a place for him or her in sports. We all can be ourselves and still compete with dignity and at the highest level.
This is our time and our cause. Everything we know as athletes, teammates, spokesmen and vehicles of American pastimes compels us toward the kind of action and camaraderie we saw from Pee Wee Reese nearly 66 years ago. It's as simple as putting our arm around the shoulder of another athlete. It's a gesture; it's a pledge; it's solidarity at its most basic. Our Jackie is coming. We need to pave the way.
Brendon Ayanbadejo is a linebacker for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and an ambassador for Athlete Ally, a non-profit organization committed to ending homophobia in sports.
