    I loved being a 90s Kid!

I remember the pogs/slammers...my older siblings used to play with them all the time.

I used to get so scared of "Are You Afraid of the Dark":

The good ol' days. I grew up watching Nickelodeon and Snick. I remember being attracted to Josh Server in All That, even as a kid:

Other Nickelodeon 90s gems as a kid:

I remember that I had to use the 'park' command right at the end if I wanted to turn the computer off.

It was known as 'parking the disk'.

I know right! I can't believe I am saying this. But I actually miss those toys ads! At least even back then they still have ads for McDonald's Toy set thing like toy of the week etc when they are promoting a movie/ animation. I can't remember the last time I actually saw such an ad . Irony that even though animation are getting more popular, toys are no longer as popular.

Just a guess, I'm thinking that if we spent more time watching nick Jr and Disney kids we'd see more ads geared towards them.
I haven't watch cartoon network In a while. I think almost few years ago. I remember they have ads for those pony pet things or those fancy barbie set toys. That's true these days i watch more Tv shows. Still some anime once in a while when I am in the mood.

Re: 90s Nostalgia ad from Microsoft (So many feels) [For us 90s kids]

I was born in 85. I remember the toys I had as I got older. Nintendo, Sega, Tamagachi, my Creepy Crawlers Oven which you poured the rubber goo into hot molds and grew gross creepy crawly rubber bugs (burned the crap out of myself on that one, a lot)

But we weren't real big on the technology gadgets in our home. Parents still stressed that there were too many things to do out in the real world, for me and my brothers and family. Fishing, boats, hunting, swimming, trail riding, horses, etc.

But I still can recall the times though, especially when I see ads like that one and others. It's fun to stop for a few minutes and go back. And what a different world it is today though, just in the short time from when I was a kid and a teenager.

I'd say if I had to choose between being a kid or a teenager today or back in my time period when I was those ages, I'd go back in time. Things were simpler, easier, FRIENDLIER!

I really hated Ren and Stimpy.

Even as a child, I found it gross.

I remember one episode in particular that turned me off forever. One of them, I think that it was Stimpy had been picking his nose and putting the boogers underneath the coffee table. He turned it over to show Ren and said "I picked them for you". I was sick.

    Little me was so done.

I agree. It was always my understanding that it was a show that was really meant to be watched while high or on shrooms or something... I didn't see the appeal otherwise.

lol, Ren and Stimpy was always very creepy and awkward, but that was sorta the appeal for me. It was just so way out there and random. Years later, a lot of the banter and stuff on the show, I realize, are adult "jokes" that they tried to stick in there, and somehow the editors allowed for them to be broadcast to children.

I also really enjoyed Rocko's Modern Life and Doug.

Yes Ren & Stimpy has always been really disturbing for me. Some of the things they do are just so gross and wrong. Nickelodeon always had all these odd bizarre shows. CatDog etc.

Thanks for the link to the Rocko's modern life! I was trying to recall some cartoon that has a kangaroo but cant' remember the name.
    I like doug

Does anyone watch Madeline? I like that show last time because of their very stylized drawing.
I like their French accents. It was so fancy to me last time lol.

Matt, you should have grown up in the 60s!

We only had two channels to watch on TV. You had to turn the antenna to (possibly) get a third channel, if the weather was just right.

I think I can truthfully say we bonded more, but I think, out of anything, it was because we had nothing else to do. We spent a whole lot of time outdoors. During the summer, very often, it was all day long.

I read a lot--volumes and volumes of books.

But this is a thread about the 90s. I think because the Internet was still in its infancy, people didn't really hang out on the Internet until the very late 90s. One milestone passed.

Another milestone passed when we got mobile phones, but that was in the last 10 years.

I don't think Ren and Stimpy was ever meant to be a kid's cartoon. It was supposed to be twisted, that was the whole point. And you had to have a twisted sense of humor to like it.

There were actually a few banned episodes (which I have) that were SOOO out there, they made even ME feel uncomfortable.

It was certainly an interesting show.... how they ever managed to broadcast that is beyond me, but probably no longer allowed.

Another odd one was The Venture Brothers..... You had to know Johnny Quest to understand the puns in it.

I'll chime in with my 90s brothers and sisters and "this" this, as well.

And make no mistake Refuji the smartphone internet on the fly text message 4square checkin linked to facebook technology today is part of kids pretty much acting like they're already 21 when they're out at 13. Good comes out of technology but bad does too. I never saw anything wrong with "If I'm out... I can't answer a phone call." I never had to deal with people not paying attention mid converstaion because they pulled out their phone to check something.

I want to know who is paying for all these friggin smartphones the tweens seem to be surgically attached to? Surely they don't have a job? Cellular plans and phones only seem to be going up in cost...

My parents wouldn't even buy me a PAGER.

Yeah, I had the beta version of the original windows! Windows 1! It was scrapped and the actual release was 1.01 in 1985.
I was 21... wow... it was soo cool to have a computer back then! (And expensive!)

I'm 27. That commercial was very nostalgic! Aaaah, the good ol' days (and with all the youtube videos on this thread, it even feels like I'm using a dial up connection!)
Still though, I am NOT gonna start using IE again! It used to be a diecent web browser, but not anymore.
