Jim Nabors is a TV icon thanks to his role as Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., but he just renewed his legend in a cool and heartwarming way -- by marrying his male partner of 38 years, Stan Cadwallader. Nabors has long resided in Hawaii, but he and Cadwallader tied the knot in Seattle. Said Nabors, "“I’m 82 and he’s in his 60s and so we’ve been together for 38 years and I’m not ashamed of people knowing, it’s just that it was such a personal thing, I didn’t tell anybody,” Nabors said. “I’m very happy that I’ve had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I’m just very happy.”

Sha-zam! I do wonder what Sgt Carter would have to say about this? Very proud of ol' Jim. To have come up in that era,as a native of a little town in Alabama and to star on two rural conservative TV sitcoms of the 60's and to have the vocal chops that he had, he has come along way and deserves happiness. Oh, he was also the deputy to Burt Reynolds sheriff on The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas...also serving as the folksy narrator about the Chicken Ranch.
