I got my first ever flu shot this year because my friends in the medical field were telling me this wasn't one to mess around with. And I get pretty messed up even from garden variety flu.

I haven't gotten the flu in nearly 20 years, I'm not planning to start now.

And no, I never get the shots.

Just wash your hands several times a day and use hand sanitizer at the office etc. Common sense tactics should minimise chances of getting it. Of course not 100%. Be especially careful on public transport as there are heaps of germs around there.

My mom has the flu. I went to see her. She's in a care facility.
We play word games. I was sitting next to her because we 'pass and play' Scrabble and after 5 minutes I said "I dont think I should be sitting by you". I got a face mask (which smelt horrible). But we thought is was better if I left, which I did.
Will I get sick? We'll see.
(I had a flu shot about 6 days ago, which doesnt kick in for 2 weeks)

I had to get the flu shot before leaving for Australia and I was sick for 3 days. Haven't gotten a flu shot since. Helps to have an overactive immune system though.

My first bout in years. My intercostals are SO sore from coughing; they're even sore to touch.

Then there're the fever dreams and major aching. I dragged myself off to the pharmacist and got some codeine flavoured cough syrup this afternoon. I'm hoping to sleep longer than twenty or so minutes at a time.

Next year, flu shot... I'm at that age I guess.

Yeesh, that sounds terrible. I was ill recently, but it was nothing that debilitating.

I'm thankful the stomach isn't involved but holy crap, I didn't know it possible to ache all over so much. This is the third day but I think I'm slowly on the mend.

The cough worries me. It can linger for several weeks apparently

Wash your hands regularly, eat/drink plenty of fruits/juice rich in Vitamin C to boost your immune system, and get the flu shot.

I've been sick since Friday it's been terrible.

I woke up feeling great today, and my fever finally broke, but the commute to work utterly zapped the life out of me. halfway through my subway ride and I wanted to curl up and take a nap.

one thing I've learned is that I can't be trusted with money when I'm sick and tired... sometime Saturday evening, I woke up, ordered "one of every soup" from the Chinese takeout place, and went back to bed. fortunately I paid by credit card and my roommate was awake to accept the delivery.

today, I spent $30 on lunch because I couldn't decide what I wanted and I've touched about 2 bites of any of it.

I'm not sure what I had last week, but it sure sucked.

Felt fine all day Thursday. About 11PM was on the interwebs surfing around before bed, suddenly started feeling 'off' and not 15 minutes later up came it all, all over myself, and everything else (somehow managed to avoid the computer keyboard, don't know how, because everything on both sides went into the trash...

Thenceforth hourly continued to heave until nothing was left. On the positive side, the bathroom got completely cleaned...

7AM called out from work. Even my hair hurt. Went back to bed. 8AM was last heave-ho. Back to bed and finally slept fitfully with sweats and dreams and such until 6PM. Off and on naps all night long. Slept till 4 PM Saturday.

Sunday felt better. So it was a short term thing. Went to work Monday, still tired, but functional.

I feel for all of you suffering the long one.

Well, I'm over the aches but the coughing continues, but with less pain there as well.

However, now my eyes are sore and watery, and my nose is running, almost like an allergic reaction, and my doculous does think I may have some sinus-allergy related something or other going on that's unrelated to my spondylosis. I'll be seeing him next week for followup on that.

I hope everyone who's dealing with The Ills mends up soon like.
