House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), would charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony for "tampering with evidence."

“Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime," the bill says.

Third-degree felonies in New Mexico carry a sentence of up to three years in prison.

Are they kidding? The baby's DNA wouldn't prove rape... isn't all actual physical evidence of rape gone in about 24 hours tops? This is just a backdoor attack on abortion, having utterly nothing to do whatsoever with feasibility of prosecuting rape cases.

I for one am glad those idiots aren't learning. I don't think anyone needs people in government who still think non-white non-males somehow are not of consequence when politics are made.

Honestly it would have shocked my tits off if they did learn and amended their ways. Adapt & change just is not their forte. But you'd still think at the very least in UTTER SELF PRESERVATION they could somehow find a way to do it. Apparently not. If they can't change even to save themselves as a viable party, then the dysfunction is pretty serious and given the way they handled the fiscal cliff, it seems like they need to self destruct and start over to be able to change at all. Or even to move forward or participate in governance.

Absolutely disgusting in mentality. She knows exactly why she drafted that bill. She wants to criminalize abortion, but do it at the expense of rape victims, which is even more disgusting. It's the opposite of the Republican cop-out to abortion: "I only believe in abortion in the case of rape or incest." To this bitch, "I only believe in abortion with the exception of rape or incest."

This is the Republican party. This is dysfunction, cruelty, and apathy embodied by ignorance and mental illness.
