    Valentines Day Plans?

So far, a girl I had a serious crush on for years has invited me (and all her friends) to see her band play when they arrive in my town on that night. Pretty sure her boyfriend will be there, so that's a no go.

I love V-Day, though. Hoping to have a pretty great time with friends. You?

    That is awesome.

Yea, it's the easy opportunity/excuse to brighten up other people's days/lives that makes a day like Valentines Day so awesome. I've never had a significant other, yet this day has always been nothing but smiles for me.

The band thing sounds like a cool way to spend V-Day. Are they a cover band ? Or do they write their own material.

It's also our 15th anniversary. We're going to the lacrosse game that night, so I've secretly ordered two jerseys with our names and the number 15 on the back. The entire team will sign them, and the mascot will deliver them during the game.

Oh I envy you all! My boyfriend hates valentine, I will probably be crying in a corner and making a drama about the fact that he doesn't care, asshole! LOL. Well valentine is something very American, and he doesn't identify with that I suppose, since it's a foreignness that didn't haunted us everywhere in media while we where children like it happens now... I tried to change that many times but eventually I quit, instead of buying a present for him, I buy one for me and make him cook diner

Congratulations in advance, that is way cool. We rarely celebrate Valentine's Day because my partner's birthday is the day before and we are usually exhausted from celebrating his birthday. Although last year we got tattoos on Valentine's day while we were in Amsterdam to celebrate his birthday. We were so hung over that after getting the ink we went back to the hotel, had their dinner special and went back to our room and watch tv and went to sleep early.

The initials for Valentine's Day are the same as venereal disease.

    /kills romance.

On a serious note I don't think I've ever "done something for Valentine's Day" since high school.

I wish that we all could have a JUB potluck. That would be a riot.

Off Topic: If anyone wants to watch Jimmy Kimmel Live right now, Matt Damon has hijacked the show and Andy Garcia is one sexy man.

Just thought that I would let everyone know.

First time in a while I will be "alone". I have always felt it was a VERY overrated holiday to begin with. I think I have finally slain the hopeless romantic inside me because I personally feel the holiday, unless you are Christian, you are essentially celebrating commercialism. One doesn't need a "holiday" to celebrate one's love for another.

Spent all day delivering gifts to the jobs of folks I truly care for. Had dinner and drinks with a single friend. Ended up meeting up briefly with my other friend's band. But in general, surprising friends with gifts at their jobs was the most awesome part of the day. Very fun times.

    Re: Valentines Day Plans?

Had great plans, then it all went to crap. Ended up in the emergency room a couple of days ago due to an umbilical hernia. Not my idea of a good time! We were going to celebrate my partner's birthday which is the day before valentine's and were going to go to a fancy restaurant on valentine's for a great lunch date, then lots of sex. Well, instead I have spent the last few days with tremendous pain and discomfort, taking heavy doses of antibiotics, anti inflammatories and unable to do much but sit around and watch tv and sleep whenever I can. I can't bend over, can't have sex, pretty much been told to do nothing as I cannot lift anything, also the hernia is trapping fat cells which have given me a terrible infection in my abdomen. Yep, I'm not very happy, have to wait until next Monday to go to a surgeon and then will have to have surgery and recovery time is about a month. By the way, yes I am to blame and take responsibility for my stupidity, I have been having symptoms for over a week and should have seek medical care sooner. I hope my experience can help others, it is never too soon to see your doctor if you are not feeling well and it is a sad situation to be in such discomfort. On a positive note, my partner is in the medical field and is the sweetest person I know, he has been taking care of everything and makes sure that I take my medication on time and even took some time off from work so he can do the house chores and take care of the pets. Happy Valentine's Day to all and good health you too.

    Oh JUBlog time.

So my hag/roomie took me out to a lounge for drinks last nite. Before I continue if there is one thing I hate more than incompetence, it is deception in any form: surprises, lying, cheating. So we were just chatting have a good time and there was a pianist playing some jazz which I don't really care for but it wasn't bad. He stops playing around 10pm and my roomie invites him over to join us.

This sends my intuitive alarm off that something is up. I gave her the benefit of the doubt that he was just her friend and wanted to introduce me. A decent looking guy but our personalities did not match at all. It wasn't until he started to play footsie with me under the table that I realized he was attempting to flirt with me. Again, I don't like surprises and my mood turns very sour because my roomie set me up on a truly blind date without even informing me. I start to treat him like crap to spite my roomie over the situation she set up.

It gets worse. We are about to leave and then all of a sudden she invites him back to our apartment to watch Skyfall with us. Again, no intention of watching the movie last night but she was clearly deluded in her own head that this was gonna work out. I attempt to play along and lay on the couch with him and we all fall asleep during the movie. I wake up and just leave him on the couch and head to my bed and lock the door. Thankfully, he was gone when I woke up the next morning but my roomie is gonna get a stern talking when I get home from work later. She should know better then to pull a fast one over me like that. If she just told me that there was a guy I want you to meet and debriefed him [no pun intended], the whole situation may have gone better.

I hate that she did that as well, but it sucks that you gave the guy shit for the stunt she pulled.

Still, inviting him home? Way too much. If I were the guy, I wouldn't have agreed to that unless you invited him.

at least you have friends who are trying to set you up with guys, that's sweet.

I had a boring Valentine's Day... wings and beer with my best friend in an empty bar. first Valentine's Day single in several years. wanted to keep it low-key and involving a lot of alcohol.
