Here's the press conference held earlier today. Around 12:30 is where she begins speaking on it. Looking back at the Inauguration performance, you can hear a slight echo and hear her actually singing along with the track (proving the previous guy's video as true.)

It's more common than you think because most of them use pre-recorded vocals rather than CD tracks.

Celine Dion and Mariah Carey are good examples. 99,999% of people believe they have never done such a thing because they are powervocalists and only use pre-recorded vocals when miming.

Out of all the celebrity pop acts Britney is the one who lipsyncs the most. But sometimes people speak like she's the only one doing it.

Janet Jackson and Cher lipsync OFTEN and often just use the CD vocals just like Britney. Nobody seems to give a shit.

I'm not a 12 year old girl so I don't use terms like that.

I'm late to this topic, but I am disgusted that so many so-called journalists who reported that Beyonce lip synched. Beyonce was singing to a backing track. Unless the definition of lip synching changed after the inauguration, the definition does not include any form of live singing. I also agree with those who stated that there are far more serious things to get worked up about and it's a standard practice in the music industry.

Someone said people don't care about Britney lipping because people already know she does it and doesn't pretend to sing live. Britney has been clowned her whole career for lip synching. People just now know she's going to do it now, but I remember within the last few years fans being upset and wanting refunds for her lip synching a whole concert. Any singer who lip synchs doesn't do so with the intention of the audience knowing they are doing it or they wouldn't even mouth the words.
