should I get the iMac fusion drive or not?

I'm definitely ordering a new iMac. I can't decide if the fusion drive is worth the extra $250. Thoughts? And please mac haters, spare me just don't comment. Thanks.

I've heard mixed things on it too. A lot of people have complained about the varied performance because it is a hybrid and not two actual drives. I would suggest buying it and dumping the algorithm program and have it set up as a SSD [which is sexy] and a regular HD.

I stuck a 128 gig SSD in mine alongside the 1TB hard drive and put the OS and all my apps on the SSD. Cost to do that now would be about 60. This, I believe, gives me the best of both worlds at a fraction of the price. I have time machine setup to backup both drives to my synology NAS which is itself backed up to an external HD. I really don't want to lose stuff!

^I've heard of quite a few people doing that with the minis [mainly my brother]. Course there is the HDMI problem with them.

It depends what you use your computer for. If you do a lot of photo/video editing, it would be well worth it. Otherwise, you probably won't notice it.
