    Blasphemy !!!!

    I loved that show!!!

It was a little corny I guess... but not anywhere near as campy as the Batman TV series.

To this day, they've neglected making another Wonder Woman TV/Movie, partly because (IMO) Lynda Carter did her so well she's hard to replace.

I bought all 3 seasons, and every once in a while will pull them out and re-watch them.

I'm also a big fan of I Dream of Jeannie, and Bewitched.

^ I never missed an episode of either one of those two programs, either. By the mid-70s, fortunately both were in widespread syndication.

I preferred Bewitched, because sometimes I Dream of Jeannie relied a little bit too much on slapstick. However, I loved them both.

BTW, do you remember Space:1999? To this day, I still see it as perhaps the most underrated space opera ever. Somehow, Star Trek stole all the glory.

I vaguely remember Space:1999. I remember a woman that could shape shift, and I remember their weapons seemed like a cool configuration, and that's about it.

It wasn't on the air long, was it ?

    ^Just a couple of years.

They named the shape-shifter "Maya". She had some weird sideburns but looked beautiful, anyway.

It aired on Saturday mornings in my area. Since we only had two channels to watch in those days, catching anything interesting on the tube was worth planning for.

Do you remember "Oh, Mighty Isis"? Yeah, sure, they targeted that show towards children, but I still enjoyed it.

Re: The Official Unofficial Provisional Impromptu 2013 Confessions thread

I was kind of scared of Isis back then. I was pretty young, and still under the religious influence of my family. Isis called on Egyptian gods, and I thought I was going to go to hell for watching her do it. ... and I kinda thought she was a rip off of Super Friends Wonder Woman. (I believe she predated Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman series???) - I could be wrong on that.

The whole set up of Space 1999 didn't make a lick of sense to me. The moon is blown out of orbit and sort of just...floats along, running into things? And then a shapeshifter alien decides to join the gang?

Here's the opening to Space 1999. YouTube also has a complete episode or two or more.

The show was so cheesy I had always thought it was made in Toronto. I just looked it up on Wikipedia, though, and it was made in England's Pinewood Studios. Jeez.

I saw these shows when I was 13 or 14 years old. How would I view them today?

Possibly through a very different lens.

Never watched or saw anything of Space: 1999, it was just before my time, but I note from your vid that it was produced by Gerry Anderson - which is obvious from the model shots and explosions - he also produced Thunderbirds over here in the U.K. (don't remember it much) as well as the much-underrated and overlooked TerraHawks (which I DO remember) - did they air that show in the America? I'm 'young' enough not to remember any shows before about 1980.

^Here's some trivia for some of you size queens.

Martin Landau had such a large penis that they had real trouble disguising it on the set. The fact that the styles of the day featured clinging polyester pants made the problem infinitely worse.

    I loved the spin...

Here's some trivia for you, Mr. Bessler -

In the comics, she changed by spinner her lasso around her. Special effects weren't able to do that back then on TV, so they made her spin instead.

^I AGREE! a thousand times over.

Logan's Run was badly underrated. I think the only reason it's half-forgotten is due to the fact that Star Wars, released shortly afterward, stole its glory.

Chickenguy, I don't think it aired in the States.

Which is all the more weird, because the man in the intro speaks with an American accent.

I wonder why it never aired here? There must be some behind-the-scenes story.

Isis came along in 1974 or 1975, and WonderWoman, I think, aired in 1976.

Funny thing--I remember the time stamp because of her hairstyle. In 1976, suddenly every woman in the world got Farrah Fawcett Majors hairdos.

I think the biggest thing that went wrong with Space 1999 is that they aimed it at the wrong market--the INTJs and INTPs, who looked for snazzy special effects.

In actuality, the people who liked it the most were the INFJs and INFPs, who remember the series for its story lines, involving metaphysics, etc.

I believe this is why the series failed.

    Was Cosmos 1999 the French subtitled version of Space:1999? (I googled Cosmos 1999; they sent me to the Space:1999 websites.}

You brought up an interesting point. Among Space:1999 fans, there exists two distinctive camps: the first camp hated the shape-shifter episodes; the second camp preferred them.

I've heard people complaining that it has too many space battles and how boring they were. How can there by too many space battles? And how can space battles be boring? I think it was too scifi for some people. Anyway, IMO, it is an excellent show not just for its genre but its an excellent show in general. I'd feel comfortable recommending it to people who aren't typically hardcore fans of scifi but who enjoy complex, character driven dramas.

I literally can't get this man out of my mind.

I confess that I keep watching Ciara's 'Sorry' video. I've watched it 53994304 times just to see him.
