Warwickshire Born 'n' Bred.
Yes. The students (~10,000) have been instructed to shelter.
At least two people have been taken on gurneys into ambulances.
In the interest of efficiency, I will spare the right from its usual yadayadayada:
* There weren't enough guns on campus to prevent someone from shooting one.
* The shooter has been watching too many video games.
* The problem is not that crazy people have access to guns, it's that the mental health system isn't stopping them before they pick one up.
* It's too soon to talk about gun violence. We need to grieve until the next shooting.
* Yes, Lone Star College, Virginia Tech, and Columbine all had armed security on their campuses and it didn't help. But, we could prevent these kinds of things if only schools had armed security on their campuses.
Etc. etc., etc.
There was an article about FBI nationwide statistics which showed that in the last several years more people died from hammers and clubs than from assault rifles.
We need to ban hammers and clubs ASAP!!!!!!
.
...and so it goes.

It's become the convo that it is unknown just how many students are carrying. Could be all 18,000. One shooter captured another one ran off into the woods.
Last I heard, just now, there are 3 shot and 1 possible heart attack.
Two, I believe, were serious enough to be taken to the hospitals in the downtown area, Ben Taub and I believe it is the Methodist. Both serious hospitals, very good trauma centers.
Lone Star College has now confirmed that the shooting was an altercation between two students (both of whom were, apparently, carrying firearms).
Odd that the fact that both parties were armed failed to prevent this.
Perhaps if everyone else in the vicinity had opened fire, there would have been fewer injuries.
Instead of everyone coming up with ideas to support their agenda -- wait until the police have the facts.

And apparently only one of them hit their target after 2 non-involved people were hit.
...than shootings? I'm glad you're finding stuff to be entertained about in mass shootings![]()

C'mon guys, can you really blame them for valuing guns over human life? It is completely understandable.
The only way to make such a claim truthful is to use the FBI homicide figures for overall "blunt objects" vs assault rifles. That means hammers, clubs, baseball bats, rocks, clothes irons, metal bars etc etc etc.
So your comparison is between a very broad range of objects versus a very narrow one. One simply has to add shotguns to the other side of the argument to far outweigh the blunt object homicide rate.
The only statistic that really matters to address your point: 68% of all US homicides are committed with a gun.
How many mass murders have been committed in the US with a hammer?
Please capitalize where needed. Did you help your Uncle Jack off a horse, or help your uncle jack off a horse?

So, here it is! Another victory for the NRA. Isn't this just peachy dorey!
Texans have been wanting to take their guns to school for a long time. Now they have permission to have the shootout just like the OK Corral.

Five Days Before Latest College Shooting, TX Legislator Introduced ALEC/NRA Bill to Allow Guns on Campus
by Brendan Fischer — January 23, 2013 - 7:58am
Just days before three people were shot in an altercation on a college campus in Texas, fourteen Texas State Senators co-sponsored a National Rifle Association-backed bill to prohibit colleges from restricting concealed handguns on campuses. The legislation closely resembles a "model" adopted by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
On January 22, an altercation at the Lone Star College campus in Houston led to gunfire. According to initial reports, one man involved in the fight was shot, and two bystanders were caught in the crossfire. Both suspects have been apprehended; one of the men had a student identification card.
