Five Dead in New Mexico Shooting

    That's some gun appreciation alright...

    http://www.abqjournal.com/main/2013/...-shooting.html

All victims appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Multiple weapons appeared to have been used including an assault-type rifle. The investigation is ongoing and the identities of the victims have not been release, officials said.

    From Rolyo's article:

A male juvenile is in custody and is being charged with two counts of murder, and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.
"Child abuse resulting in death." Sounds like murder to me, or are children no longer murdered? Are they less dead?

Very sad -- what could make a child murder his parents and younger siblings like that?

I just don't understand how a person could be that crazy or that hateful.

Maybe as long as we have utterly no idea what makes people do that we shouldn't give them guns.

There are way too many guns out there. Look at the death and destruction easy access to these murder machines cause.

Sad to say..guns have been used in self-defense but in this case as in so many others, people worry about the dangers of the outside world they fail to see the dangers in their own home.

An attitude that guns are a solution to the problems of life, that's what.

There were several guns in the household, including an assault rifle. It is unclear which of the guns were used to kill his family. Nevertheless, the question needs to be asked is how many legal gun owners have their weapons insecure in households full of children? Time and time again, when these disturbed teenagers want to kill someone, they just grab the nearest gun at home.

If this 15 year old boy's disturbed behavior did not access to the tool of a murderous weapon, this family would still be alive.

The fact that this story is almost the same over and over everytime a shooting occurs involving a teenager with mental health issues... it makes me wonder about the correlation I've frankly wondered about since Columbine. If there is overlap between the portion of America most culturally attached to personal firearms in the home, and the portion of America that scoffs at mental healthcare or mental health issues and doesn't take them seriously.

None of these kids involved in all the shootings I've read about since Columbine "gave no warning signs." They either were on some kind of medication or, in most cases, were not receiving treatment or help of any kind at the time they snapped.
