The Ceremony was absolutely positively fantastic. The Sea of Flags waving along the Mall was a sight to see. I don’t recall ever seeing citizens wave Flags during an Inauguration…Great idea by the Inaugural committee.. Activist Myrlie Evers-Williams gave what I felt was a thought provoking and memorable Invocation. The message was universal and was fitting for the Inaugural theme. Poet Richard Blanco did a good job delivering an original poem and I liked how he added a bit of his own story. I’m going to read his poem online before I give his oral recitation another listen to.

President Obama’s speech was Powerful and he touched on things we never expected him to mention. He was VERY direct, spoke in plain English and the entire world listening in should feel inspired. I am so Proud he’s our President and I’m looking forward to more great things to come from his Administration.

Shifting towards being in favor of equal rights is a lot better than the republicans who devolved backwards. No, it is arguable that Obama supported gay marriage for quite a few years. He was going to announce it regardless of what Biden said. And the republicans... what have they done to support same sex marriage? Absolutely NADA.

I'm with you, MisterM. He came out confidently and forcefully. I wanted him to stand up against the faces of hatred and treachery. FDR once said he welcomes the hatred of those against him... at least it'll expose who they are.

What I found particularly poignant about President Obama's mention of Stonewall is that he mentioned in the same context as the Civil Rights Movement and the Women's Rights Movement. The exact quote is as follows:

If so, what about that's group views on gays -- Similar or not to Obama's?

He has no such thing and the relations with Egypt are very chilly right now. Almost frigid. The US and Egyptian President Morsi are not talking. Here is a suggestion, stop making such false suggestions with no real evidence.

The so called "F-16" donation of four fighters was not confirmed. It was only "confirmed" by a "source" to FOX NEWS.

Any evidence to support the President didn't write his speech? Also, it was a long speech, so why not have a teleprompter? Most people can't remember a 10-15 minute speech word for word.

Presidents never write their own speeches, but they have full control over the writing, and have to approve the final result. They are also directly responsible for hiring the person who writes it. Any speech Obama gives is as much his, as is humanly possible for someone who is at the top of the United States.
