I think criminal negligence should be charged in cases like these. A gun owner should know enough to make sure his gun is safely unloaded in these venues. To call them accidents and let it go does very little to discourage such things. If you know that you are going to face charges, it will give an extra layer of incentive to avoid them.

I saw this earlier while I was out and about....
Quite amusing that gun owners are shooting one another on "Gun Appreciation day...."

Well the biggest argument against the "arm everyone" philosophy is that the only people who think that and run out and buy guns are the ones most likely to shoot people for no fucking reason at all.

Apparently you're the only one who read the link but you haven't been on topic. Hmm.
It is just another one of the Chance 'Look Over There!!!!' thread derailment tactics.
It only took me 30 seconds or less to find the wire story links for a number of sources.
But Chance is acting like a 4 year old...missing the substance of the story in favour of focussing on an irrelevancy.
Sorry Chance. Isn't working. And you are only making yourself look more and more foolish by the death grip you have on your original post.
Kind of hard not to when you constantly making off topic posts drawing attention away from the topic.
Overall this shows that a part of Gun Appreciation Day there needs to be an emphasis on gun safety in our society. Introducing programs like the NRA's child safety program into the schools and passing laws that treat negligent conduct such as failing to unload a gun properly when handling it as negligence instead of just accidents would help.

You mean, the NRA has somehow failed to emphasize gun safety in our society?
We've had 63 mass shootings in the last 30 years, and they still have yet to emphasize gun safety among their members?
I guess the solution to the problem of inadequate gun safety among gun nuts is an avoidance of regulations that would emphasize gun safety.
In other words, you're a big fan of gun regulation.
I gather the NRA has some rather outstanding gun safety programs but it does seem that getting them included into health and safety programs in schools seems to encounter resistance from some folks. I can't say for sure, since I'm not a gun owner or a member of the NRA but I'm sure Kuli can tell you how readily they offer them to their members. I know they offer them to the public. It would certainly do to have some of their programs or programs at least as good as a requirement for any sort of regulation on gun ownership and handling.
Just out of curiosity, how sure are you that the individuals involved in these shootings are NRA members? If they were not, your point about whether they emphasize gun safety to their members is rather moot.
If you and they say so, I would rather there be an emphasis on reasonable regulation
Yes I am a fan of reasonable regulation for gun safety and punishment for criminal and negligent use of guns.
