How do I build a Gaydar?

Hi, I'm 18 and recently came out to myself and a close friend and I'm trying get myself into the dating circuit, but it's really difficult to figure out who is gay or not around where i live. cause some of the factors here are basically irrelevant. So I'm hoping some one could help me with this.

While still in the closet, one way is to not cruise the hot guy who passes by or who is in the room but to check out the other guys who are cruising him. You can learn a lot that way.

Firstly welcome to JUB , this can be like an old gladiator stadium sometimes , but if you need help or advice this is where you should come .
Even the JUBbrs who do not get on the best will if they feel they can help normaly do .

Well, other than a coffee shop, a single gay bar and Barnes & Noble, there's not many "gay" places in your town.

Gaydar is mostly a hunch. If you want to know who is gay, you have a couple of choices- either ask them in a subtle or not-so-subtle way or give them clues that you are.

just a couple of random thoughts here:

on one hand, youll ge better at it as you get more experienced. on the other hand, the whole "gaydar" thing is a bit of a myth, if you ask me.

you dont want to find out who is gay; you want to find out who is cruising you. eye-contact is the best indicator. if someone is looking at you whenever you look at them, chances are theyre cruising you.

and in my experience, finding love "on the street" is pretty hard, simply because there arent that many of us. go to bars and clubs, use the internet. both have their own pittfalls, but they are useful tools for dating if used correctly.

think with your head, not your dick. if you meet a gorgeous guy, you may desperately want him to be gay. that (unfortunately) doesnt mean he necessarily is gay.

work on your coming-out. the more out you are, the easier dating gets. if you seem secretive, you will attract predators and nut-cases. also, the more comfortable you are with yourself, the more attractive you are to others. i wish you all the best, this is a very important step in your life!

apparently one of my straight friend who has a lot of gay friends eventually learned to tell who is gay and who is not. My guess is just surrounding yourself by gay people and observe "general" behaviours

I need help with this too. Lol I am a fail gay. Even my straight friends are better than me at identifying who's gay and who's not lol.

I'd call it an "educated guess" instead.

Immerse yourself in the beautiful culture that is gay. Enrich yourself with the presence of a diva, a muscle mary, a poet, a gym bunny, a geek, etc. Well, there is no sure fire way to tell if someone is gay. You can trying honing it but ultimately, use hints and subtle questions to reveal their sexuality!
