And murdering children has nothing to do with children?

See my response to xbuzzerx. I was not making any comment at all on the Obama picture.

I wasn't saying anything at all about that picture and the signing event. I was merely stating a fact about those pictures of Bush provided as 'counter evidence'.
Okay. But those pictures weren't shown to imply the kids were just grabbed out of a crowd for a bill that had nothing to do with kids. The discussion was about Chance claiming it's an absolute outrage to have kids at the signing of the bill. None of us really knows why... even now, really.
It's a manipulative selling point. Obama isn't the first to use it by any means, but it cheapens and demagogues the issue especially in as charged and heartwrenching a situation such as the massacre at the Sandy Hook school. Children should never be used as props for making political points for ANY politician. But hey, if LBJ could use that young girl innocently counting in the beginning of his infamous commercial(nearly 50 years ago) trying to frighten the bejeezus out of everyone about mad nuke lover Barry Goldwater, children can be used to sell ANYTHING!
Amazing things ahead for the Mets ....hosts of the MLB All Star Game in 2013
What I most don't understand about this mindset, and I'm trying to give it the benefit of the doubt that it's not just pure dislike of the President or the piece of legislation and focusing on something totally tangential to it to criticize it... is your implied belief that the entire impetus to do anything here wasn't out of a real and widespread concern for the safety of school age children, and that the image of children was only somehow "used" at the moment of bill signing.
Children (and their safety) has been a core part of this iteration of the gun debate since Newtown. I don't get how you think children were just dragged into it at the signing itself as a "cheap selling point."
In fact this position makes so little sense to me that I think I just have to chaulk this up to, this is the Republican political worldview and that's why I can't grasp it. Republicans view so much in terms of posturing and spin that even when an issue legitimately isn't about spin they can't see it that way. It's always about the spin and never about the substance to a present day Republican.
