NRA spits on the graves of Newtown massacre victims with release of mobile shoot-'em-up app for iPhone, iPad

What is with LaPierre and the NRA! Can you believe this? They put a game on the IPAD, IPhone and want childres as young as 4, or as young as can hold the damn thing in their hand! Talk about sick bastards.

NRA spits on the graves of Newtown massacre victims with release of mobile shoot-'em-up app for iPhone, iPad
National Rifle Association launched free game that could allow children to play target practice and pay to unlock more powerful weapons, including an assault weapon like the one used by Adam Lanza to kill 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14.

    --snip--

Exactly one month after the Newtown school massacre, the National Rifle Association has launched a free iPhone and iPad shooting game offering kids as young as 4 a chance to fire guns at coffin-shaped targets.

They really are a domestic terrorist group... that's all I will say.

    Totally tone deaf.

How cynical to stand up in front of the world and blame Hollywood and video games for too much violence and then put something like this out there.

I can't believe i'm actually going to say this really, but, in their defence, there was never going to be a good time to release this game.

In their defense, devs that put out games are usually on a really tight financial timetable. They were probably relying on a set release date since way before Newtown happened, and most companies, especially making smaller games, can't sit and wait on an income stream after laying out the money for the programmers and development. I think it would surprise people how many of the smaller devs, literally, put their game out and are sitting there holding their breath knowing that if it doesn't have a good sales cycle in the first month or two, the dev house is going to close up shop.

Note that the game is target practise. I understand it is intended as an alternative to the many games out there involving shooting of people.

    Target practice? On a phone?

Oh man am I ever going off topic on this one. I just can't resist your question.

The reason there will never be another crossplatform PC/xbox/other venue shooting game is precisely because of your question. Anyone using a PC absolutely stomps face on someone "aiming" with a controller. People who play PC shooting games have the same reaction as you to people who play shooters on phones, handhelds, or consoles.

When you blame video games for violent shootings, there's NEVER a good time to release something like this.

You can never go off topic on my threads as I don't make them on topic. Go with your response!

It's important for 4 year olds to know the difference between an AK-47 and an M-16. Assessing the range and rate of fire of a weapon may be important in a school if the armed janitor and teachers have already been taken down by a gunman.

In their defense, they had to do this to counter the threat from Android first person shooter games.

There is a reason why most violent games get an 'M' rating. You need to be 17 to purchase them. Personally, I would love to see Microsoft and Sony do their part from disallowing users under the age of 17 to play M-rated games online. If they falsify their information to bypass the age restriction, their account gets banned.

Far Cry 3 received a heavy round of criticism for being excessively violent... but it was released prior to these shootings. It is rated M I believe. It's easier to control on that on PC by far... I do own the game. But I know it's just fantasy. Just like I knew Doom II was.

That's what gets me is try to find someone under 35 who hasn't played these kinds of games... the lazy correlation people always make between these videogames and public spree shooters ignores the fact that probably most of their victims were exposed to these games, too.
