Re: Morning Joe - Daily Thread

I would love for this thread to be - at least primarily - about convos on MJ

Preferably for watchers and those perhaps interested in watching

    I know I know

    Asking a lot

But I do think the show is a good example of healthy debate

With panelists and guests on both sides

    A model for us perhaps

And I know that I am as big an offender as anyone

    So .........

    Saw a little this am

    Will comment later when home

I would suggest the same. Lock this one and start over with an on-topic thread.

But in fairness, the thread won't be successful if it is just someone tweeting a synopsis of what Joe and crew have been saying.

Anyone here can go and get the replay of what was said if we missed it.

I would expect that there also has to be some debate ensuing about what JoeCo. offered.

And that is when it could get messy.

But On-topic sure would have helped.

There seems no reason to discuss Springer's Imodium, which of course would now be off-topic. As well as his and Jay Hawk's contretemps.

Now, gentle reader, to the issues.

Oooooh I got a french word even... lemme get out my french to Redneck translation dictionary....

MJ was rather boring today although I did hear Mika get in a barb about folks getting overly upset about nothing. She didn't use Joe's name in the segment and in her comparison but it was obvious to who she was referring. When i opened my eyes to peek they had a very badly prepped makeup professional explaining why she refused to let MJ's makeup staff freshen up her look before she went on air. She seriously looked like a ghost.

He learned that he cannot work with a political Party which (besides some side issues like complete control over women's choices, Constitutional amendments to keep gay people from getting married, and the disgrace of taking voting rights from as many people as possible) has its principal platform to make sure that the n****r Kenyan Muslim jihadist fails.

He finally figured out, properly and appropriately, that working with that Party is futile.

Do a DNA trace!! Perhaps the DNA can be traced to somebody really famous in the source's ancestry, perhaps even somebody like Harriet Tubman or Vlad the Impaler. The Dracula mavens could bid it into the gazillions of micro-mini-milli-Euros on eBay, LOL.

I hope I'm the first person ever to put Harriet Tubman and Vlad the Impaler in the same sentence. I really do. The future of all humanity rides on it.

slightly diff take than JH - shocking

I really like Richard Haas - Pres. Foreign Relations Council - he gave Obama kudos for his gun control conference yesterday - said it was a big moment and referred a story about LBJ/Civil Rights where the President (LBJ) remarked that if not he then who would make bold moves - liked that

Mante T'eo convo (yech) with Joe and Mike unequivocally denouncing T'eo and ND - thought that was a rush to judgement and not very open minded

Joe ripped survivalists (again) for their "need" for auto weapons - first for fun and second for ........ defending themselves against the govt. - LOL - OMG - thats a reason ??

Richard Wolffe gave the Dem party shit for being silent on gun control for 20 years - as it helped them get elected just as it did Repubs

Haas says "go big" not small - says it's special interests against national interests - can Obama match the NRA intensity - do they have the stones to fight off the NRA - hmmm

Grace Coddington - scary looking woman - is up later

    remember

ON TOPIC !!!! or incur the wrath of you know who (not me)

PS - I would like Willie Geist to have my baby

Didnt see the rest of that... I barely had one eye open.... on 'Teo I simply don't care. It really doesn't matter as for the game played with emotion because his grandma had just died. The rest of it is the media being jilted days of our lives cast members. It really has no place. The ludicrous idea that a team needing a linemen would look at 'Teo and say "Man he said something weird on twitter, he is the exact fit ofr us but that whole twitter thing" MAYBE if the NFL was a tweeting contest but it isn't and as far as character they take convicts.... so in the end it really doesn't matter at all and I instantly start to nod off when his name is mentioned. Hell i am getting sleepy now.

Not much of a Joe fan, never was. Always was aware of his rude temper problem. In the mornings I wake up to Starting Point. Not that I am a huge Soledad fan. I just chose CNN as the channel when my television automatically turns on at 7:00 each morning as my alarm. Maybe I will change it to MSNBC and give Joe another chance. Maybe.

Friday am Joe & Mika are OUT ....... hmmm
    together ? LOL

so it's Barnacle, Halperin, Heilmen, CJ Kupp (odd but interesting), and a woman from the Financial Times (british accent)

talking about T'eo (again) and then Lance Armstrong - sorta bothered that they're following the formula of so many others

China's GDP grew by 8% btw - and for them that's BAD where's our Chinese JUBBERs btw

Looks like the US levee system is fucked - yikes

Biden talking to mayors around the US - looking for support on gun control - Biden looks older - telling mayors that Newtown has shocked the nation - high capacity magazines have NO hunting purpose - 12 rounds means you've missed the deer 11x you dont' deserve a gun - LOL - I like Joe

Poll says Hollywood/Ent. industry is LESS popular than the NRA - hmmm

SE Cupp is sorta defending the NRA a bit saying that the media smack down might help them a bit - jumping on the pile so to speak - she thinks that it's over the top - she says gun control advocates should not malign the NRA rather than talk to the issues

Gillian Tett (major lisp) - she's the Fin Times person says attacking the NRA moves their polls #s UP - mistake

Jon Heileman begs to differ - SE Cupp is wincing as Jon speaks - he's trashing the NRA as a special int. group not a way of life

Heileman says the anti NRA forces HAVE TO PLAY HARDBALL - interesting

    so they're at odds

    what do you think ?

SE says NRA represents GUN OWNERS - avg. donation is $7

VERY INTERESTING DEBATE - feel free to jump in

Barnacle is jumping on SE Cupp - Halperin is in the middle - says NRA primarily represents the people not the companies

    VERY INTERESTING

    will leave it here

sorry for the ramble but it is my way

    Have a good saturday

Has anyone seen the Oliver Stone series on Showtime called "The Untold History of the United States"

A bit off topic but was a series promoted on MJ. So somewhat relevant.

I haven't watched the entirety of the program as it is ten episodes but I caught the final episode and it was compelling. Wont do a spoiler but I can say that anyone who is inflexible and right wing will scream bloody murder. Anyone that is screaming loon left wing will say i told you so..... yet I have argued these points for quite some time... not all of them... but definitely the idea that we are a warfighting domineering country and that is not only our history but our future.

Interesting discussion on MJ this morning about Obama's use of the word 'I' and if he can say 'we".

I've got this image of Obama sitting at his computer, tears running down his face and changing all the 347 I's in his inaugural speech to 'we".

A big difference in 'I did it' and 'We did it'.

He was clearly speaking to his daughter who had just said "You didn't mess it up" referring to the bungled oath the first time. I know context is not something republicans have a strong grasp on so i am happy to give you context when you fail to comprehend it on your own.

You know it is really interesting. I listened this morning to Colin Powell talking about the republican party that I belonged to and that he belonged to and their absolute failure to comprehend the context of our national conversation currently. What I found interesting was his take and Joe's concurrence on that view that current conservatives have no room in their public discourse for governance and moderate thinking that would garner wide spread public support.

It made me think of CEP. Mostly because they also discussed the wilderness that the democrats experienced because of the wild eyed left wing of that party in the seventies and eighties. We seem to have all of each kind of lean in CEP.

I have looked and cannot yet find a clip to post but look up Colin Powell Jan 21, 2013 later today and I bet there will be a clip. What he is saying is powerful.

^ thanks JH - I have sirius on my iphone so I can stream it on audio - frankly I enjoy the visual immensely - my dvr stores it for the week

    watching today's NOW

Mika is apoplectic about Hillary and the Republicans treatment of her
Donny Deutsch is doing is stupid routine - showing outrage - and being small
Willie Geist shut him down nicely - that the republicans job was to question Hillary not french kiss her

Mika w/o Joe is a wreck - its like she has no filter

    Norah O'Donnell is good btw

I still don't get how it's possible how a cable from the ambassador directly did not get to hillary

mika says hillary's response to the situation shows the difference between how women handle problems and men

    LOL - what a tool

    Mika - take a vacation !!!!

Meachem is sharp -- it's hard to tell if he's liberal or conservative views -- most of what he says makes a lot of sense to me.

Chance - Mika must have gotten your memo about taking a vacation, lol

I'm not sure about women in combat -- I understand the equal rights argument -- but still question the ability of most women to perform in combat because of their size and muscular ability. A huge factor is that our enemies at the current time do not agree with equal rights for women.

Women are in combat and have been in combat since the sixties. It is poorly placed misogynistic ideations that have allowed us as a society to tell ourselves women are only supporting. Tammy Duckworth did not lose her legs knitting macromae... She lost them in combat flying a helicopter and being shot at.

Consider this last two wars. Rarely did insurgents face our troops at their pointy end. They simply could not match up. Read about Fallujah where the enemy decided to stand and fight. (<-- that is an amazingly simple telling of events leading up to and subsequent reasoning Iraqis and insurgents fought but it suffices for the end result) They were routed by the Marines. That happened time and again. That is why we were in Baghdad so quickly as well. I will go on to say there are many capable fighting forces on earth. I have no doubt. However none is as lethally efficient as our troops. SO the insurgent strategy was roadside bombs, suicide attacks and in AF increasing green on green. In other words anything but direct attack. Typically they fought directly only when chased down.

SO the strategy involved attacking weaker components of the force. Supply Convos which are considered support took a large brunt of the attacks. Women were a large part of that manpower. (Manpower - What a shitty term to use in a pro-women's right to fight posting... lol) In a high profile example of that situation was Iraq 2003 and Jessica Lynch. If she wasn't in combat then how did combatants end up holding her hostage. Those turd balls paid the price for their error at the business end of a Delta Force HRT.

That is just recently. Women have paid for freedom with their lives and worn the cloth of the nation for a long time. I imagine it is only fair that they get their due. They are smarter than men. College grad rates and GPA's prove it. We are better for the inclusion.

We will retain superior capability in any future war. That means attacking the rear echelon will be the future of any war. therefore if you fly to a region that is at war then you are at war. There should be no difference.

I don't think J & M and their show could EVER lose the REALNESS regardless of the setting...Think about the Name of the show, then think about The Concept of the ****** Their show is the People's morning Show and it would be a MONSTER sensation if NBC DUMPED ALL the Players on Today (Including money-maker Matthew) and replaced it with Morning Joe..

I totally disagree. I like seeing Mika hosting Solo, front & Center being Queen among her panel of Jesters...For years now the viewers have gotten use to the Concept of the ****** The Hosts won't always be there but they have regular Players strong enough to engage the visiting panel and the viewers....

I prefer seeing J & M behind the desk every day but I never turn away when they're MIA....

    ^^

The Today Show is a complete disaster. Horrible cast.

It's hard to look at Al Roker anymore without thinking of him dumping a 'roker' in his pants.

However, I don't think MJ format would work as a replacement for the Today Show -- TTS is designed for the low information viewer -- there is a reason F&F destroys MJ in the ratings.

So which show is your favorite show? Mj or Fox & Friends?

Politics and Current Events aside...Do you feel Fox & Friends has a better Morning show Cast?

Re: Morning Joe - Daily Thread

I used to like F&F but not anymore. The format is old, the people have been there too long. I don't like the woman in the morning.

The cast is better on MJ.

Both weatherman on fine on each of the shows -- not a lot of drama with either like local news weathermen.

If you're talking about the regular Blonde woman (so-called former beauty Queen) on F&F she should have been replaced a long time ago...They should have used my Fellow Theatre Workshop class-mate Ainsley Earhardt..I think they still have her as a fill in on Sundays or something..Then again I havent watched Fox in so long so don't quote me on that......Ainsley's a sweetheart and just as Good as the other Chick...

Columbia, SC is PROUD of Ainsley and I am even more proud...I remember Ainsley being the nicest person back when we attended the Acting workshop during our High School years....She was in the Advanced Acting Class before me then my Acting chops got better and I moved up to her class......She went to the upper-middle-class High School where everybody's parents were Doctors, Lawyers and Engineers...I went to the Lower working Class High School...LOL...

The early Acting classes paid off for her because she's had a long time gig on Fox (if she's still there)....

    ^^^

Her name is Gretchen Carlson. She's horrible. She has no personality and is stiff.

Ainsley is good now -- she had a rough start and I think was the main woman weekend host for a while.

It was good to see Harris Faulkner appear on FNC -- she was on the local FOX affiliate here for about a decade -- very well liked in KC -- very pretty too.

    pretty disturbing

Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast was just on the MJ panel

and Joe, Mika, Mike B., Harold Ford - all fawned over thim

tougher interview than Steve Kroft's fellatio on Barack and Hills

    but not by much

my respect for the MJ brand just dropped quite a bit

Didnt like or dislike it... just dont see how you go hardcore on a business exec who has done nothing wrong... the story was about an investment in a company that the CEO thought was good timing.... I just dont see what is the hard question they should have asked.... what would you have had them ask that would have been 'hardcore'?

Morning Joe Trivia: When Joe was just a 1/2 cup of beans yet to be ground..

Morning Joe would NEVER have seen the light of day had MSNBC's beloved Don Imus not called a group of female basketball players "nappy-headed hos"....MSNBC and Don would never be the same again...

A lot of people FORGET that Don was KING @ MSNBC during that same time-slot and he would still be there today...Don is still a King among Kings @ what he does but I'm so glad he Fucked up and got the ball rolling for MSNBC to change it's ENTIRE daytime format....

If you think Mika is even REMOTELY attracted to Joe then you've only been watching their banter for 5-seconds...You're NOT a long-time watcher...

The only woman that is attracted to Joe is his Wife...I Love Joe, I like his tall-Stocky-build but he's def not anybody's heart-throb...Even Vice Prez Joe DaBiden is a Sexier Joe than Joe Scarborough.....Not my opinion but a Fact...

Joe & Chuck Todd have ZERO sex-appeal on camera and we've seen them both in Full-body-screen....Their wives married them because of who they are, how smart they are and where they're going Career-wise...

Wrong! (Or maybe wrong...he doesn't exude a great presence on camera...but, viewed as a snapshot or something, I think he's one of the best looking journalists currently out there.)

    Actually, No!

I don't get that vibe at all. I get the vibe that it is Joe's show and she is the type that kisses the ass of the guy in charge....

Mika & Joe will probably have a life-long relationship like Kathy Lee & Regis....There isnt and wasnt a HINT of sexual attraction from any of them.....Tx-Beau is seeing something that does not exist...

This is Mika's husband, Jim Hoffer...She's got a type and Giant Joe ain't it...
