Tonight was on the premiere of a new TV series called "The Carrie Diaries." It's a prequel TV series of "Sex and the City." I watched the show tonight and the show was very good. The lead actress who portrays the young Carrie Bradshaw looks a little bit like Sarah Jessica Parker. The guy who portrays her love interest on the show Sebastian is very cute. Did anyone else see this show tonight? What did you think of it? The show begins when Carrie's mom just recently passed away and she goes back to high school. The family Carrie and her sister Dora and her father are all coping with the loss and trying to move on with their lives.

I was always in and out with Sex In The City. I was watching it as a preteen, so its safe to say that it wasn't exactly written for my demographic. I enjoyed it to the best of my ability and I am now able to get a better understanding through re-runs (now that Im older).

I was a little hesistant about this. Again, I wasn't the biggest SITC fan and from the previews, The Carrie Diaries seemed to fit into the teenage demographic. I wasn't sure if I would be able to relate to high school drama. Well I was wrong. It really impressed me, kept my attention and I can't wait for next week. I find the young Carrie and her friends to be adorable and talented. Its very youthful and intelligent with a mature spin. They try to feed teens so much crap these days, Im happy that the Carrie Diaries isn't like that. Im very happy to see Austin Butler from Switched at Birth. He is a really good actor. He deserves a more prominent role. Im excited to see what is in store for him and Carrie.

Im not ashamed. If its good TV its meant to be watched.

I am a huge Sex and the City fan, but for some reason I'm not excited or thrilled about The Carrie Diaries. I still think I might give it a 1 or 2 episode spin just to see if it hooks me.

I'm not that excited about it either tbh. Don't know why.. it just doesn't appeal to me, but I'll still watch it, because there's some eye candy.. and the storyline with the closeted gay guy seems kids interesting too

The Carrie Diaries caught my eye because of the gorgeous, flaw-free Freema Agyeman.



If the show takes off I'd be happy for her. <3

Well.. I watched the pilot, and it was actually better than I expected. It wasn't perfect, but it was cute. It was only the first episode anyway, so there's room for improvement. I'm afraid there won't be many more episodes though, since it flopped in the ratings. It sucks because there's certainly worse shows on tv, and I think TCD is different, and deserves to stay on. It's the The CW's fault anyway. Would it kill them to promote the show? just ugh

Anyway.. the gay guy was cute and the gay storyline has a lot of potential, so I'm excited to see the rest of that. I'll watch until it gets canceled.

Austin Butler. I only know him from ABC Family's Switched at Birth. He's a really good young actor. If you are interested in his work, he was great in SAB. He just didn't get a lot of screen time. I was sad that he left, but its a good career move. I hope that The Carrie Diaries works out for him. It seems like a bigger role.





I know that you asked about him and not him and Vanessa. Sorry about that. He's so young. I wanted make sure that the pictures were recent enough.

The whole premise of the series sounded interesting at first ("prequel to sex and the city"). I missed the first 15 or so minutes of the premiere, and tuned in right when Carrie arrived in NYC. To be honest, I didn't like the show at all. The idea of trying to recreate the 80s in a modern-looking setting was just silly.

But I'm only watching "The Carrie Diaries" because of the gay guy, Walt. The guy, Brendan Dooling is pretty hott. I'm only really interested in his gay storyline, that's all.

I was really excited for the second episode. I began to get weary because it was getting a little too "High School". Thankfully, it got better at the end. I hope that it has time to develop.

I still really enjoy the Carrie character. To be so young, she has a mature acting style.

I think the series is ok so far. I'm a bit sick of hearing about Carrie's mum all the time. The gay character is quite interesting though.

Yes. That's exactly what happened. Bennett kissed him and then he literally ran away screaming, lol. Then he slept with his girlfriend for the first time to prove to himself that he's not gay.. sigh. Literally NOTHING has happened since. It's been like a month since the gay kiss, and he's been playing it straight all this time. Hopefully we'll see more gay soon though.

When it comes to cancelation, yep. It's very likely, the ratings are awful, and I mean HORRENDOUS. It's really, really bad. It sucks, because I feel like the show has so much potential, but the writing hasn't been that good, unfortunately. The last few episodes have been boring as hell.. sigh. Carrie's new love interest just isn't working. Nobody likes him and many people tune out because they want her to be with Sebastian. I admit it that I don't like their relationship either. Hopefully she'll break up with the boring guy soon and go back to Sebastian.

This show started off good but it's getting a bit boring. I wish they would continue the gay story lines with Walt. This show should be promoted a lot more then maybe it would get more viewers and do a lot better in the ratings.

Don't stop watching, please! All of your complaints have now been sorted out. Walt basically came out to Donna in the last episode, they'll remain friends, I'm sure. I actually like Donna though, I think she's fierce. She was annoying at first, but I really like her friendship with Walt. And lets face it.. she spice things up a bit. Maggie is just a snoozefest.

Carrie IS back at Interview! Her father had a realization after talking to Larissa, and made her work at Interview after all.

I completely disagree. I think the show is getting better and better. Walt is starting to come out, Carrie is finding herself, what she wants to do, and who she wants to be. She's finally starting to feel like the Carrie from SATC, with all of her insecurities. It just became so visible in the last episode with Sebastian, when she literally just freaked out.. lol. I'm also glad that we got some more insight into Sebastian's life. Bennett made another appearance too, which was nice. Carrie is back at Interview, and it's nice to see all of her adventures in the big city again! Last but not least, I actually really like Donna. She's fierce.

Even though I find it somewhat boring the shows characters are starting to develop and I'm sure it will get better hopefully over time as the show evolves.

The show is rumored to be coming back next season with probaly a 13 pick up.

I feel like NYC, even on the 1980s around chelsea seem to be a safe heaven. I remember in 2000 when i first started school in NYC, i was shocked and suprised to see two men holding hands. Wow have times have changed

It's official! The show got picked up for another season, which means more Walt and Bennett! Yay! I can't wait!
