Re: Tendonitis of ankle
Oh lord, I don't envy you at all. That's an incredibly painful affliction.
I've never had it happen to me, but I know how painful it is. I hope you get better soon!

Playing Soccer I had it few times.
If you do any sport, you really need to stop completely and rest until the pain is gone (about 2 weeks), or it might get worse.
Consult a Physio for some medication and advice, if the pain is unbearable, it could be quite serious.
My brother had 2 operations on his knees because he underestimated the problem.

Re: Tendonitis of ankle
Unbearable pain seems likely to be more than tendonitis. Has it been examined by a Doctor? Torn muscles, tendons, ligaments? Heat can help, and Aleve. If it really is tendonitis, there is a cheap, quick cure. Ask your Doctor for a ten day course of Prednisone, a tiny corticosteroid pill.

Re: Tendonitis of ankle
Ben is right about Aleve. I had tendonitis in my shoulder and the doctor prescribed naproxen, which is prescription strength Aleve. Works great. Also, icing is important, twice a day for 10 or 20 minutes. However, if the pain is that bad, you should see a doctor.
And another thing, EuroSoccer, if your avatar is a picture of you, I want to have sex with you the next time you are in NYC!

Are yiou sure this isn't plantar fasciatis? The latter is painful but exercises can remedy the problem.

Yes,like everything a correct diagnosis is vital.
I have ankylosing spondylitis and achilles tendonitis is a sympton .
It is painful for sure but you should have it imaged to make sure you havn't ripped the tendon off the bone, if this is the case you would be unable to walk.
There is really no cure, patients, massaging the tendon and rest.

The office of your regular Doctor can get you a quicker appointment. Or go to an urgent care or minor care facility. Waiting a month to see a doctor defeats the purpose.
