almost (not quite) as obnoxious as "I called it"
sort of a junior "i called it"
the wonderful part of "i called it" is not the absurdity of a thread stating for all hear that the author nailed it - was correct - high five city - i'm the bestest
it is that he's patting himself on the back and is wrong
LOL
^^ Sometimes we all need a reason to "rub one out."

"Someone who frequently mentions their personal struggle, while idolizing all things conservative, is kinda like watching a woman rape herself and cry about it..."
So does that mean that I have to sit with the kids who rode the bus to school, or who's parents made their clothes for them instead of purchasing them from a department store, or catalogue?
Glad to see that the two of you have developed your own little "mean girls" club.
I'm so insecure as a person, that many of us can't wait to toss our personal integrity under a bus to join!

Tex you wouldn't be talking about gloating when you appear to have won the conversation or gotten one over on another CEP'er would ya? You are not equating rubbing one out with being overly satisfied with one's self.
Nah...
Subtly eludes many. I would imagine the short bus would have to be regular sized for CEP....
Just my Two cents!

Well considering Seven Presidents had degrees from Harvard but only two earned them... GW Bush and Obama...I suppose you could say Bush was remotely right wing although you all wanna run away from him. lol
Romney had a degree from Harvard too! I suppose him being the 2012 Republican nominee had nothing to do with the right. LOL
I dont have the time to look it up for you but feel free to look into how many billionaires went to Harvard and paid for the party you call home?
Since the party is made up of Billionaires and rednecks I would imagine without the Harvard billionaires there would be no right wing. It would be more like a right "Trailer" on the front lawn.

"Mother died today. Or was it yesterday?"
I'm sure that it would go over most "east coast educated" (even if they only went to a local community college) head, if I were to suggest that "education" has nothing to do with it.
It's when Madison Avenue in New York started selling: marketing candidates/legislation/party platforms and positions like tooth paste, cars, and erectile dysfunction when American Politics in our lifetime began to change.
We have some of the same CE&P members posting here.
The same who went to those schools, and who now work in that industry.
While the rest of us fight the same very people who think that they're above the rest of us, because they went to some "East Coast College" and think that they know better.
And are the first ones to go all "conservative" when they think that if they can just make it financially above the rest of us things will get better.
Meanwhile...back at the farm...

Poor thang, bless your heart!
Let me help you out:
Here are the lyrics:

And I went to pick her up in the Rain.
But before I could get to the Station in my Pick Up Truck
She got ran over by a damned old Train![]()

So am I officially barred from ever voicing any viewpoint on, let's say, the EU economy or the progress of gay rights in Eastern Europe or anything like that?
Is that where this is all headed? Or is this just what it looks like, a case of attacking the messenger instead of the message?
No.
It's because you're from Los Angeleze.
Get with the program Becky!
Everyone knows that the opinion of Southern Californians means nothing over the opinion of those who, may or may not have lived near Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (Now Bosnia).
Of course you can assert your Native American Heritage, and mow that distinction down.
But I'm afraid you might come across as too "liberal."
As a Moderator I'm just trying to help to clarify the distinction.
Please forgive me.

I've admonished centex to not be unruly.
Well, that's how they describe themselves.
http://www.harvard-jlpp.com/about/The Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy is ... the nation’s leading forum for conservative and libertarian legal scholarship.
They are a sister-organisation to The Federalist Society:
an organization of conservatives and libertarians seeking reform of the current American legal system in accordance with a textualist or originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution.

So the man had a premature ejaculation. Give rareboy a break. Good grief, the number of oversights all of us have made over the years is human error and we're entitled to one every once in awhile. I mean look how I botched that lesbian thread.
As a side note to today's most recent school shooting, it was interesting to see that it was a teacher's compassion that stopped a gunman, not another gun in the room.

^ And in the heat of the moment you know he would have shot others in his rage, if not killed himself by the time it was all over. There's no need to marginalize what this heroic teacher did. Without a gun.

Original topic: though Rareboy retracted the thought that there is no news coverage about guns lately, he was still right in one sense. The idea of actually having an effective mental health-care system has indeed flown out the window. Nobody is talking about that anymore.
Please capitalize where needed. Did you help your Uncle Jack off a horse, or help your uncle jack off a horse?

At the end of the day, there will only be platitudes about the culture of violence and how people need to watch less violence.
But there will still be the same type and number of violent movies and video games made and marketed and sold and watched.
There will be platitudes about the failure of the mental health system but no one will approve one more dollar to do anything about it.
There will be the usual loud noises about the need to restrict or ban certain weapons, but Walmart and the NRA and the vocal pro-gun base will rule the day and there will be no change made. There will still be gun shows and 40% of firearms being sold in the US without background checks.
And even this thread will be a good demonstration of how the conversation will swing around to 'How Dare You Criticize The US', or instead of addressing the actual challenges and issues at hand. Some here also think there is some kind of border between the US and Canada. I don't see this as a US problem. I see this as a North American problem. The failure of one part of this geographically and socially collective society to find solutions to the issues of gun violence affects us all. For instance, most gang gun crime in Canada is committed with illegal weapons...obtained...you guessed it. Somewhere else.
But let's see where this goes.

It took you years to finally admit that JUB started in Canada. I remember you denying it outright, even when moderators told you so, going on and on with a "So? Prove it!" attitude. I remember you finally decided you must be right because you were a JUB supporter and I was not, as if that somehow changes the facts of reality. But as of today's date, it looks like you're a basic member and I'm paid up. You're making exactly as much sense in this thread about gun rights as you did in the thread about where JUB came from.
If you want a pat on the back for all the great things that the US has done, start a thread on it. But people start threads about problems, not successes. And since most American members of this site are unwilling or unable to discuss international issues (with several clear exceptions) that means we all end up bitching about America's problems.
So it's not anti-Americanism, it's just what people end up talking about. And if you want to reinvent the wheel instead of learning from how other countries solved problems years ago, like gun violence, like equal rights for gays, like health care, then you can add "inventing the wheel" to the long list of your smart ideas, but drop the whine about anti-Americanism.
Americans need to keep their guns so they can protect themselves from gun violence just like Nancy Lanza did. And like Chris Kyle did. And like Gabby Giffords did. And like Tom Clements did.
It would be interesting to know how old the gun control laws are in these countries, and how prevalent guns were before the laws existed (or when they were less restrictive).
Gun control in the USA would have worked fine 100 years ago, but now it's far too late.
However, certain aspects of gun control - such as mandatory background checks on all sales, especially with computerized databases being so accessible - do not go against the phrase "well regulated militia." Restrictions on certain types of weapons don't go against that, either, as I see it.
Of course there's always the conundrum that this type of weaponry is readily available from criminal enterprises.
And HOW MANY millions of drones does the U. S. have on-the-ready, just in case they decide that selective warfare on (some) civilians is justified?
Looked more like Double Entendrese to me.
And it has been proven, over and over, that some of these other countries truly ARE more free. I entirely respect the opinions of those who are not within our borders, such as Rareboy and ChickenGuy, for whom finding out enough about the United States to be able to comment as they do, is considerably more work than if they lived here. These specific two people (and MANY others!!) fully know what "America" is capable of, and they rightfully discuss how this country has departed from all of that in ways that are often dangerous.
Very possibly my favorite country song!!! Cool...

And we're still waiting for you to create a Thread about the New years Eve Shootings and stabbing in Toronto....I'm creating a Count-down Clock just for you just to see how long it takes for you to talk about the Shootings in your Country instead of Raging about America's shootings all the time....
