Their new trilogy record (Uno, Dos, Tre) is amazing. They've totally outdid themselves, and might have even topped 21st Century Breakdown. I've noticed that a lot of dumb gays have been saying they've alienated their core fanbase and the new material isn't any good.

Green Day is not for fags. Green doesn't make music for fags. Never has, never will. The new album is incredible and could easily sit by Dookie etc as one of the Green Day's best efforts.

I haven't heard much of the new album, but I like what I have heard; but it is a departure in some ways from the more melodic sound of albums like American Idiot (which I vastly prefer over Dookie), more of a return to their punk roots, though not purely punk in sound. I think some old fans won't like it, some new fans will, and the world will keep on turning around.

Why give Green Day crap when you're so much more deserving?

The UDT set is over-long, but not unwieldy so. Some of the tracks are filleresque but nothing sounds out of place, or like it wasn't good enough to release. I still think an all-killer-no-filler album would've been most welcome rather than a three-CD set, but I don't think they embarrassed themselves. Releasing it as three albums spread over six...oops, how about four...months was a misbegotten idea, however. Thy should've just released it as one semi-budgeted 3CD set.

Yeah, it's sorta /eyeroll how with other genres, most often what people will say after a band gets really successful is "their sound changed, they got really mainstream, it just wasn't the same." With punk the rule is IF YOU GET SUCCESSFUL AT ALL you've sold out. Kind of a self-destructive/counterproductive viewpoint.

So far, I've heard people say 1039, Kerplunk, Dookie, "When I Come Around", Woodstock, "J.A.R.", "Good Riddance", "Pop Rocks", American Idiot, Foxboro Hot Tubs (really?), "21st Century", the musical and IHeartRadio. That's a lot of selling out. Odd how they still sound like themselves after all that.

Green Day left Epitaph when a major label came knocking. Rancid stuck with Epitaph even after getting some radio play. (The wolves in "...And Out Come the Wolves" were the major labels looking to lure them away.) I'm guessing that's where they think the line is.

I have always liked green day especially back when I was teenager. I really like their "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) " song and my fav album would be their "American Idiot". I bought both the cassette and CD version of that album. The latest ones are ok.
